Could The Warlords Defeat The Admirals?

Summary

  • Admirals outweigh Warlords in physical strength, but Warlords have unique abilities.
  • Warlords may stand a chance if they strategize and work together against Admirals.
  • Admirals have an advantage due to teamwork, making them likely winners in a fight.

While power scaling throughout One Piece generally seems to be something the series doesn’t focus on, attempting to decipher the exact strength of a character is always a fun hobby for fans. Although sometimes discussions about strength can go a bit too far, generally, power scaling is an important part of the community overall. In fact, this subset of the One Piece fan base was even referenced in the One Piece: Fan Letter, poking fun at how many fans focus on the strength of characters.

One such topic that is often discussed involves the top-tier characters of the One Piece universe, the Three Great Powers. Mainly, from this group, some fans believe that, despite being allies until the introduction of the Seraphim, the Warlords are greatly inferior to the Marine Admirals. However, due to the fact that they seem to be a weaker part of the Three Great Powers, many fans have wondered whether the Warlords could keep up with their Admiral allies in a fight.

Some One Piece fans have shown concern over the recent sales of volume 111. Here’s what happened.

The Admirals Versus The Warlords Would Be A Clash Between Some Of One Piece’s Strongest Groups

Two Of The Three Great Powers In Combat

While there are plenty of powerful One Piece characters, when it comes to the strongest characters in the series, most of them belong to one of the Three Great Powers. These powers include the Emperors of the Sea, Marine forces, and Warlords. Mainly, the job of the Marines and the Warlords is to team up and make sure the Emperors don’t do anything to upset the order of the world. However, with the World Government eventually deeming the Warlords unnecessary, fans have begun to wonder if they were really necessary in the first place, leading to a heavy comparison to the Admirals.

The Marine Headquarters and the Warlords in order to counter-balance these four [Emperors]! – Garp

For this matchup, the Warlords and Admirals that would be competing would be those who appeared during the first major conflict between One Piece’s Great Powers during the Paramount War. On the Admirals’ side, the One Piece Marines would have the three original pre-time skip Admirals: Kizaru, Aokiji, and Akainu. On the flip side, the Warlords would have the variation of their group during Marineford, giving them Boa Hancock, Dracula Mihawk, Gecko Moria, Bartholomew Kuma, Donquixote Doflamingo, Jinbe, and Blackbeard with one Devil Fruit.

Though The Warlords Do Have Some Tricky Abilities

  • The Marine Admirals Are Incredibly Strong In One Piece
  • The Warlords Have Broken Abilities With Kuma And Blackbeard

Firstly, in terms of individual strength, while each of the Warlords is strong, the Marine Admirals are far stronger. Able to go toe to toe with an Emperor, the Marine Admirals, like Kizaru who was able to fight fairly well against One Piece’s Gear 5 Luffy, or Aokiji, who was able to stand his own against Garp, can outpace almost every Warlord. However, one Warlord, Mihawk, is also said to be fairly similar in strength to Shanks, probably putting him on a similar level to an Admiral.

One Piece: The First Devil Fruit In Existence, Explained

The Devil Fruits only came into existence during One Piece’s second world. This devil fruit was probably the first created.

However, while the Admirals are physically stronger overall, the Warlords aren’t weak and have strong Devil Fruit abilities and Haki at their disposal that could help even the odds. For example, Boa Hancock’s Love-Love Fruit may be able to temporarily incapacitate Aokiji, if it’s able to bypass his Haki. Additionally, Kuma’s Paw-Paw Fruit, Moria’s Shadow-Shadow Fruit, Doflamingo’s String-String Fruit, and most importantly, Blackbeard’s Dark-dark Fruit, could provide strong support. While the Admiral’s abilities are powerful and destructive, the Warlord’s abilities are creative and unique enough to help them deal with far stronger opponents.

Teamwork Might Make The Difference In This Fight

The Admirals Know How To Work Together

Still, even with more varied abilities, it seems likely that most of the One Piece Warlords wouldn’t be able to hold their own individually, save for Mihawk. However, if the Warlords were able to put aside their differences, a nearly impossible task, and work tactically together, they may hold their own for far longer. Despite this, the Admirals work extremely well together, even in their conflicts, giving them an impressive tactical edge in combat.

Do you think you can defeat the Marine Admirals…!? – Chinjao

Although the Warlords aren’t weak, it seems likely that any of them, save for the powerful One Piece swordsman, Mihawk, would last long against them in a purely physical fight. However, through proper strategy and creatively using their abilities, the Warlords may be able to stand at a nearly equal level with the Admirals. However, in a fight between the pre-time skip Admirals and Warlords in One Piece, it seems likely that the Admirals would win.
