Ceb steps down from OG roster while 23savage and xNova part ways too

OG has announced a massive roster overhaul, with Sébastien “Ceb” Deb stepping down alongside two other members of their Dota 2 roster.

This news came after months of poor performance by OG despite its newly-debut Dota 2 roster. Unfortunately, even with Ceb’s leadership, the new OG just isn’t cut out for today’s competitive Dota 2.

Ceb Steps Down From OG Dota 2 Roster

OG’s post announced that Ceb is stepping down from the active Dota 2 roster. However, in a later interview with Johan “N0tail” Sundstein and OG’s coach, Maurice “KheZu” Gutmann, they shared factors that led to Ceb’s decision to step down. Notably, they mentioned about burnout and how the players don’t see the game as fun anymore.

As such, it would be reasonable to believe that Ceb is taking a break indefinitely. This has been a recent trend among players, to consider taking a break due to the overwhelming schedule of Dota 2 tournaments in 2025.

OG’s Roster Shuffle

Following Ceb‘s departure, two other players’ announced they’d be leaving the active Dota 2 roster, Nuengnara “23savage” Teeramahanon and Yap “xNova” Jian Wei. The two players were first introduced as part of OG’s new line-up, promising a strong prodigy and a veteran mind. Unfortunately, it’s evident that this roster isn’t working after six months playing together, so they’ve ultimately left.

As disappointing as this news is, there is a silver lining as 23savage is not wasting any time to look for a new team. Additionally, he has also shared his plans to reach 16,000 MMR, which is a commendable accomplishment among Dota 2 pros. Despite his underwhelming performance in OG, 23savage is renowned as one of the best Dota 2 carry players, so it would be delightful to see him climb to the top again.

Meanwhile, xNova also has plans to return to competitive Dota 2, but not before a short break.

OG’s dwindling performance in 2025

It’s been three months since the 2025 Dota 2 season kicked off and frankly the initial debut of the OG roster just did not live up to fans’ expectations. OG is currently on a eight-game losing streak, comprising of qualifying matches in PGL Wallachia S4 and FISSURE Universe Episode 4 and most recently, PGL Wallachia S3.

To recap on OG’s performance in PGL Wallachia S3, they lost to three teams in the group stage, which landed them an early elimination. Among the three opponents, it’s fair to lose to Team Spirit. However, to also fail against mediocre teams like Yellow Submarine and Wildcard is a wake-up call that this wasn’t working out.

With three players out of the team, only Leon “Nine” Kirilin and Tamir “daze” Tokpanov remain.
