A new leak hints at details for some of the previously teased Mega Evolutions in Pokemon Legends: Z-A. There haven’t been any new Mega Evolutions introduced since Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire back in 2014, but the upcoming Pokemon Legends: Z-A is bringing the mechanic back in a major way. For the uninitiated, Mega Evolutions are temporary but powerful forms certain Pokemon can gain by being exposed to a particular item during battle.
Fans were excited to hear that Mega Evolutions would be returning in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, especially since there are still so many Pokemon that don’t have one yet. Previous Pokemon Legends: Z-A leaks have claimed that 27 new Mega Evolutions will be introduced, with four of them reportedly being for the Gen 1 starfish creature Starmie alongside the three Pokemon X and Y starter evolutions Chesnaught, Delphox, and Greninja.

One of the leaked new Mega Evolutions for Pokemon Legends: Z-A is Chandelure, and the Gen 5 mon’s new form could undergo a drastic design change.
Leaker and Twitter user Centro Leaks recently shared some more details about these supposed Pokemon Legends: Z-A Mega Evolutions, which reportedly came from unverified sources on 4chan earlier this month. Fans might want to take this news with a grain of salt for the time being, but these sources claim that Mega Starmie will retain its dual Water/Psychic type but will be larger and gain longer legs to run around on dry land. Mega Chesnaught will supposedly wear a crown and sport orange shields and other elements.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A Leaks Details for Mega Starmie and X and Y Starter Evolutions
Mega Delphox will stand on its broom and hover, while Mega Greninja will reportedly be a darker color and hang upside down from a large shuriken. Before these were rumored for Pokemon Legends: Z-A, fans had designed their own hypothetical Mega Evolutions for Starmie and the Generation 6 starters in addition to several other Pokemon that didn’t receive one in either Pokemon X and Y or the Ruby and Sapphire remakes.
Only time will tell if these leaked Pokemon Legends: Z-A Mega Evolutions will actually be in the game, let alone match what fan artists have predicted their designs would look like. With only 46 official Mega Evolutions and the claims that Pokemon Legends: Z-A will add 27 more, there are certainly many possibilities for the upcoming Pokemon spin-off to introduce exciting new takes on creatures gamers know and love. So far, there is no exact release date for Pokemon Legends: Z-A, with Nintendo claiming that it will be released for the original Nintendo Switch at some point in late 2025.
