In Atomfall, players have the option to kill every single major NPC in the game. No one is spared from the player character’s neck-snapping prowess, but many players are wondering what happens if you kill everyone in Atomfall, and whether killing everyone locks you out of an ending.

How To Destroy B.A.R.D. Robots in Atomfall
One of the toughest enemies players will face in Atomfall will be the armored robots working for B.A.R.D. Here’s how to stop them.
There are almost two dozen named NPCs that players can kill in Atomfall, each of which would have offered you one (or more) Leads if left alive – but there are reasons to kill named NPCs. This guide explains what happens when every major NPC is dead in Atomfall, and includes a full list of all named characters who are just as mortal, and killable, as the random Druids, Protocol Soldiers, and Outlaws that roam these green and unpleasant lands.
All Atomfall NPCs You Can Kill
If you kill any of the game’s eighteen named characters, they will be dead for the rest of your playthrough, and their body will even disappear after some time (if fully looted). If you kill Atomfall NPCs, you will usually get unique items from their corpse that you may have received had you completed requests and Leads for them – including keys, keycards, unique intel, special weapons, and more.
Think carefully before you decide to go about breaking these characters’ necks, as you won’t be able to bring them back to life unless you reload a previous save:
- The Scientist (starting bunker)
- Nat Buckshaw (South Slatten Dale)
- Molly Jowett (North Slatten Dale)
- Reg Stansfield (Slate Mine, between Slatten Dale & Skethermoor)
- Vicar McHenry (St. Katherine’s Church)
- Captain Grant Sims (Village Hall)
- Morris Wick (Village Shop)
- Iris & Philip Baxter (Village Bakery)
- Alf Buckshaw (Grendel’s Head Pub)
- Prudence Rook (Datlow Hall in Casterfell Woods)
- Mother Jago (Old Mine in North Casterfell Woods)
- Joyce Tanner (Protocol Bunker Southwest of Old Mine, or Data Store Charlie if powered)
- Billy Gorse (South of Casterfell Dam)
- Dr. Alan Holder (Forgotten Cellar below Church)
- Corporal “Bootsy” Hughes (Skethermoor)
- Ilya Kozlov (Bunker behind Brinsop Manor in Skethermoor)
- Nora Thorndike (Nora’s Barn in North Skethermoor)
- Dr. Garrow (Skethermoor Prison or Central Processor if freed)
You can, of course, kill unnamed NPCs like the Protocol Soldiers, Druids, Outlaws, and other enemies throughout the game. But if the character is not named, they will respawn after some time. Killing unnamed, generic enemies in Atomfall does not remove them permanently from the game, unlike, say, Avowed.

Atomfall: How To Upgrade Weapons
To upgrade weapons, Atomfall players must pick up a specific Skill and collect the materials necessary to craft a better gun.
If you kill one Protocol Soldier in Wyndham Village and get the whole force to descend down upon you, you’ll be fighting through waves of infinitely-respawning soldiers until you escape or die.
What Happens If You Kill Everyone In Atomfall?
You Can Still Finish The Game, But At What Cost?
There is one major character in Atomfall that players can’t kill. In fact, you can never meet this character in person, and the identity of this character is left a mystery for much of the game. If you kill everyone in Atomfall, the Voice On The Telephone will still be able to offer you escape from the Quarantine Zone.
That’s right – even if every single other major player in the Atomfall story is dead, and you were personally responsible for their deaths, the Voice On The Phone will still work with you. If you kill every Atomfall character, you might not have as many Leads to follow, nor will you be able to access any ending aside from the Voice On The Phone’s escape plan.
But killing everyone is, technically, the fastest way to complete the game – you’ll just miss out on a lot of narrative, and you might even feel bad for killing some of these well-fleshed-out, realistic, and often kind characters (even if they are Bri*ish).
