Just like most anime video game adaptations, Bleach: Rebirth of Souls has a massive story mode that retells the series’ first two major story arcs in a surprising amount of detail. While it’s mostly linear, there are some exceptions.

As you make your way through the story, you’ll come across certain “nodes” that are locked off to the player and require something called “Unlock Keys” in order to get past. You’ll need to do these nodes to finish the story, so here’s what you need to know.
What Are Unlock Keys?
Unlock Keys are a collectible in Bleach: Rebirth of Souls that you’ll need to find in order to gain access to some of the story mode’s main missions. They can only be used in the story mode, and the process is as simple as picking them up and then them being automatically used to move the story forward when enough are unlocked.
You’ll know when a node is locked off and needs Unlock Keys when you see a lock appear on the mission’s symbol, as well as a notification popping up that says, “You need a key to unlock this node”. You can see how many Unlock Keys you currently have and need just below the Chapter title on the top-right of the screen.
How To Gain Unlock Keys
All of that might sound a little complicated, but the good news is that finding Unlock Keys is incredibly simple and doesn’t require any extra effort like the Secret Missions. To collect Unlock Keys, you simply need to play specific nodes within a chapter, as the locks are mainly there to make sure you see and do everything in the current arc.
If you’re missing Unlock Keys, you just need to go and play through some of the chapter’s other missions. Sometimes they’ll just be cutscenes giving you more detail on the story, and other times it’ll be whole battles and separate arcs away from Ichigo’s main venture. Either way, just look around the chapter’s nodes and play through them until you collect enough keys.
You’ll know if you’ve unlocked one when the chapter is over and you go to the results screen, as the key will pop up at the bottom of the screen and signify that it’s been unlocked. Once you’ve got enough of them, the locked mission will become playable, and you’ll be able to move on with the story.
