What are the Best Fortnite OG Weapons?

Fortnite OG is taking us back to Season 3! A simpler time, especially compared to the complex mechanics at work in Battle Royale right now. But there’s still quite a big difference depending on the guns you use, where they sit in the Fortnite weapons tier list.

The game is going back to Season 3, with Lucky Landing as the main new POI. Although, re-visiting, it might not feel like it used to. The higher skill of your average Fortnite player will mean that weapons which felt OP originally might not be destroying lobbies in the same way anymore. How do the weapons stand with the modern Fortnite audience? What are the best Fortnite OG weapons this season?

S Tier

These are the best Fortnite OG weapons! The guns at the very top of the Fortnite OG weapons tier list are the best in the game. Essential carries, at least in the case of the pump. These are the guns in this category for Season 3 at the moment.

  • Assault Rifle – In high rarities, the standard AR is still one of the best items added. It gets the job done simply, and without the need for extra mechanics.
  • Pump Shotgun – The classic style pump is still here is Season 3. It’ll always be the shotgun to carry in these older Fortnite seasons.
  • Grenade Launcher – A great weapon for applying pressure, especially if you master the curves from the projectiles bouncing.
  • LMG – The LMG is one of the better weapons added, especially now most players can build faster. It can tear through materials very quickly.

A Tier

A little further down is the A Tier. Now quite as great as the top tier, but Fortnite OG has a much more bloated loot pool than players are used to from modern seasons. There’s a lot of competition, even with guns that would be top of the Fortnite OG weapons tier list in a smaller selection. These are the A Tier guns:

  • Hand Cannon – A hard hitting pistol. Powerful enough to be worth carrying, but quite dependent on your skills with aiming.
  • Hunting Rifle – A classic. A marksman rifle with high accuracy, but lacking a scope.
  • Heavy Shotgun – A decent weapon, but has never quite managed to beat the Pump in its many appearances.
  • Burst AR – More accurate, but not as versatile. Still a decent AR.
  • Minigun – The Minigun is a great weapon for burning through builds and applying pressure
  • Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle – The classic Sniper can still one shot kill. Always worth carrying if you have the skills.
  • Rocket Launcher – The classic explosive weapon still works. It’s less effective today with turbo builds than originally though.
  • Boogie Bomb – Fantastic for breaking players at close range.

B Tier – Fortnite OG Weapons Tier List

B is where we get into weapons which are kind of bad. Including probably the headline item of the season, which is great fun but has felt kind of neutered now the skill level has risen. These are the B tier weapons:

  • Guided Missile – It’s fun. But now the Fortnite player base knows how to play competently in most cases, it’s just not got the power that it used to.
  • Scoped AR – Much slower than it might be in player’s memories, it’s useful as a scoped weapon but has stronger competition as an AR and a high accuracy weapon.
  • Pistol – Not great. It took more than 3 seasons to get a good pistol.
  • Suppressed Submachine Gun – Quieter… but not by enough to make it worth carrying over something else.
  • Tactical Submachine Gun – The better SMG, but there’s stronger weapons in other categories.

C Tier

In the C Tier we’ve got the bottom of the barrel for the season. Not the best Fortnite OG weapons.

  • Remote Explosives
  • Tactical Shotgun
  • Crossbow

That’s where we have everything sitting at the moment or the Fortnite OG weapons tier list. There’s going to be some adjustments to loot over the coming weeks though as Epic moves Season 3 through more of its changes in Fortnite updates. The weapon balance will definitely change as we move on too.
