Call of Duty: Warzone publisher Activision announces a new in-game event for Season 3 known as “Return to Verdansk,” with plenty of rewards up for grabs as the studio celebrates the iconic map’s re-release. The return of Verdansk has been highly anticipated by Call of Duty: Warzone fans ever since it was announced last year. Now, after a three-and-a-half-year absence, the map is finally returning in just a few days’ time.
Back in August, Activision confirmed during its annual COD Next event that Verdansk would return to Warzone in Spring 2025. As the months went by, the studio shared very few details about the map’s return, but that didn’t stop fans from finding out new information from leakers and data miners. Various insiders claimed the map would be returning with Season 3, which Activision finally confirmed earlier this month. The studio has yet to post an official blog post for Season 3, but players will be able to jump back into Verdansk when the new season launches on Thursday, April 3.

Call of Duty: Warzone Season 3 Event Announced
With Verdansk’s return just one week away, Activision has confirmed via the Call of Duty website that it will be hosting an in-game event called Return to Verdansk. The event will feature “incredible rewards” for Call of Duty: Warzone players to obtain, but what these rewards are remains unclear. As Season 3 of Call of Duty is set to begin next week, Activision will likely share a new blog post in the coming days, breaking down the new season and revealing more details on the recently announced Return to Verdansk event.
Earlier this week, Activision confirmed that Beenox, one of Call of Duty‘s support studios, is developing Verdansk for its Season 3 return. In a short video, the development studio deep-dived into the massive improvements and changes being made to Verdansk for Call of Duty: Warzone Season 3. Although the map will stay faithful to the original 2020 version, Beenox has rebuilt Verdansk from the ground up with stunning new textures and improved visuals. The studio has also made use of the latest technology to allow for better quality and rendering when it comes to foliage around the map.
While most fans are simply eager to jump back into Warzone‘s very first Battle Royale map once again, Activision clearly has big plans for the launch of Season 3 as a plethora of Modern Warfare weapons and operators are supposedly returning with the new season. While it has yet to be made official, a recent video from Call of Duty: Warzone did seemingly hint at the return of the AMAX and Kilo 141. Leakers and insiders have also claimed that other weapons, such as the Grau 5.56 and HDR, will also be returning alongside Roze, a controversial operator that initially required multiple nerfs due to visibility issues.
