Dune: Awakening is launching on May 20, 2025 for PC. The Creative Director, Joel Bylos, stated that the game would be a full release, which means no early access. Additionally, there will be no monthly subscription for the game either.
As the brutality of the war raging in the latest Dune movie and series has shown us, it takes strategy and good allies to prevail. This is something fans of Dune: Spice Wars and other atmospheric strategy games are bound to appreciate. In Dune: War for Arrakis, players must choose between House Atreides and House Harkonnen. Each of the two main factions has allies, namely the Fremen for House Atreides and House Corrino for House Harkonnen.
Thanks in no small part to Amazon’s latest deal on Dune: War for Arrakis, two to four players can battle it out in the dunes through asymmetrical gameplay. It’s worth noting that the game is meant for tabletop gamers aged 14 and up. No doubt, one’s choice of faction will determine how the game plays out in the beginning. The whopping 180 minutes of game time gives players plenty of moments to secure the victory for their faction of choice.
Players will start off using hit-and-fade tactics if they choose to side with House Atreides. Other players who choose House Harkonnen will have to play defense as they try to retain control over as much territory on Arrakis as possible. Dune: War for Arrakis invites players to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of hostility between the factions in the Dune universe.
Players will get a feel for all the little aspects of Dune lore in every game mechanic, in each figurine, and more. Though some fans might view this as just one battle in the war-torn Dune universe, many players might enjoy the detailed quality of the game overall. This makes for a decent way to fill the void that the Dune movie and series have left and that other shows in the spirit of Dune: Prophecy just can’t soothe.
