Each tribe’s Saurian in Genshin Impact not only gives new puzzles and gameplay to mess around with, but also dictates the mobility skill of the character that comes from the tribe.
For example, Tatankasaur is the Saurian that players will see in the Collective of Plenty. Its ability revolves around destroying rocks, charging with speed, and even dashing on water surfaces. Similarly, Varesa can do what Tatankasaur can. However, due to her extreme speed, it may be tough to control her. Apart from being unable to manage her speediness, here are some beginner mistakes players may make when using Varesa in Genshin Impact.

Not Taking Advantage of Aggravate
Varesa has a very strong Plunge attack that deals an AoE Electro DMG. She can constantly trigger that Plunge attack since her Elemental Skill and Charged attacks both help her jump high enough. Since Varesa can deal high DMG with her Plunge attacks and needs Crit Rate and Crit DMG to maximize her DPS, it only makes sense to team her with Dendro characters like Nahida and Baizhu to further increase her DPS potential.
Yes, Varesa can work perfectly with top-tier buffers like any other main DPS in the game, but pairing her with a Dendro unit is such an easy way to maximize her Plunge attacks’ DMG without investing in top-tier supports in Genshin Impact.
3
Waiting For Her Skill Cooldown
Since Varesa heavily relies on her Plunge attacks for her DPS, it only makes sense to keep using them when she’s on the field. However, at times, Varesa can run out of Elemental Skill charges to smoothly trigger her Plunge attacks. In that case, it’s better to switch her out and start a new rotation instead of waiting those few seconds for the next Elemental Skill.
Most of the game’s content depends on dealing the most DPS in the shortest time, and Varesa should not be wasting time waiting for her cooldown. If your team’s buffs and debuffs are already set and there’s no need for a rotation, you can simply cast her Charged attacks to launch her high enough for one or two Plunge attacks until her next Elemental Skill is ready. She won’t deal as much DMG, but it’s better than randomly attacking enemies with her Normal attacks.
2
Not Aiming Her Plunges
Varesa moves a lot when spamming her Plunge attacks because of her Elemental Skill’s short dash. These dashes will make her move into and out of fights constantly, confusing players when using her combo. At times when there are multiple enemies, you may find Varesa locking onto one opponent that she shouldn’t be focusing on, especially if it is an enemy with high Electro resistance.
In that case, you should long press Varesa’s Elemental Skill and reposition her next to a target she should hit. She’ll move fast to her new location, and she’ll still be able to trigger the quick Charged attack. Players may lose a second or two, but it’s much better than wasting Varesa’s attacks on an immune enemy.

Not Teaming Her With Natlan Characters
When one of Varesa’s team members triggers a Nightsoul Burst, she gains 35% extra ATK, which is insane for her kit. Not only that, but she can double down on that effect and stack it up to two times, gaining a whopping 70% extra ATK. However, it’s not that simple for Varesa. If she’s the only Natlan character in the party, her team can only trigger a Nightsoul Burst every 18 seconds while her stack stays for only 12 seconds. This means she won’t be able to stack it twice and get all the extra ATK% in her kit.
Teaming her with another Natlan character brings down the cooldown to 12 seconds, which is barely enough to maintain the two ATK% stacks. The only way to get the two stacks for Varesa is by making sure her team has three Natlan characters, including her. That way, the cooldown goes down to nine seconds, and Varesa will enjoy her extra 70% ATK.
Of course, you can still ignore the second stack if you team Varesa with insane buffers like Furina in Genshin Impact. These types of supports will greatly increase Varesa’s DPS, so a 35% ATK loss won’t matter much in that case.
