Many of Warframe’s
Infested weapons feature unique mechanics that help them stand above the rest of the game’s myriad of strange firearms and blades. The Hirudo is a good example. This pair of Infested fist weapons can heal the user upon landing critical hits. Build the weapon for high critical chance, and you have a great utility weapon.
Now that a Coda variant exists for the Hirudo, now is the perfect time to get your hands on this strange melee weapon and make some good builds for it. This guide will explain how to craft the Hirudo, explain its unique lifesteal gimmick, and cover a solid endgame build you can use in Steel Path content.
How To Obtain The Hirudo
Crafting the Hirudo is surprisingly simple, if a little expensive for newer Tenno. The Hirudo’s main blueprint can be purchased from the in-game market for 25,000 Credits. Crafting the weapon itself will require a crafted Kogake melee weapon, which you can also obtain the blueprint for through the in-game market. The Kogake will be consumed once you start making the Hirudo, so ensure you’ve leveled it first to gain its Mastery Rank points.
Once you’ve unlocked Hollvania through ”
The Hex
” quest, you’ll be able to acquire the Coda Hirudo through Technocyte Coda
Technocyte Coda
—the in-game term for Infested Liches. Defeating an Infested boy band will give you a currency used to purchase Coda weapons from Eleanor in the Hollvania hub. The Hirudo is in Rotation B. If it’s not in stock when you check her shop, wait a few days before speaking with Eleanor again.

The Hirudo is an Infested melee weapon that uses Fist stance mods. It features high critical stats with solid base damage and attack speed, making it a strong option once you get your hands on Sacrificial Steel and Blood Rush. Critical builds are further encouraged through this weapon’s gimmick.
All critical hits from the Hirudo have five percent lifesteal and increase max HP by five percent for 15 seconds, up to +25 percent HP. Lifesteal from this weapon is fixed and cannot be modded directly, although increasing the Hirudo’s damage does indirectly give you better lifesteal properties. This also applies to the Coda version, featuring far more base damage and slightly higher critical stats.

Hirudo Builds
We’ll be focusing on one endgame Hirudo build today, one that specs heavily into critical stats to maximize its lifesteal passive and overall DPS. If you can help it, wait to get the Coda version before you start investing Forma into this weapon, as the Coda variant is significantly stronger than the base Hirudo if you get a high progenitor damage bonus.

This build for the Hirudo focuses heavily on critical hits, using Blood Rush and Sacrificial Steel to drastically increase your critical chance. Sacrificial Steel will guarantee critical hits on its own, while Blood Rush pushes this weapon into red crit territory. Just be sure to use the
Naramon Focus School
to minimize combo loss. You’ll also want Organ Shatter to boost your critical damage.
The rest of the build is fairly standard for a melee weapon. Primed Pressure Point gives a sizable boost to your base damage. Berserker’s Fury is a large attack speed bonus you can easily trigger. Primed Fever Strike paired with Vicious Frost gives you a ton of Viral damage, and b makes this weapon significantly easier to use against crowds of enemies.
