A new Honkai: Star Rail leak has revealed the complete kit details for one of the upcoming characters, the new Nihility Quantum user, Cipher. Honkai: Star Rail‘s official social media accounts recently revealed Cipher’s official splash art, confirming that this character will join the roster in update 3.3.

The announcement took many fans by surprise, considering that it’s fairly early for HoYoverse to officially announce new characters, especially since the second part of update 3.1 is not over yet. Honkai: Star Rail has previously confirmed two new playable units that will appear in the upcoming update 3.2: Castorice and Anaxa.

An interesting post on the Honkai: Star Rail subreddit has revealed the complete details of Cipher’s on-field kit. The official storyline confirms that Cipher is one of the Chrysos Heirs, a group of powerful individuals who rose after the Titans of Amphoreus fell. At the moment, only eight of the Chrysos Heirs are known, with the upcoming five-star character Castorice also being one of them. Many fans suspect that Cipher’s design was inspired by Pardofelis from Honkai Impact 3, which wouldn’t come as a big surprise since HoYoverse often bases its character designs on previous playable units from its other titles. The fact that Cipher is a Nihility character in Honkai: Star Rail suggests that she will rely on applying debuffs. According to the leak, her kit revolves around two important effects: Foretold and Wealth Bond.

Honkai: Star Rail: Cipher’s Kit Explained

  • Basic ATK – Deals Quantum damage equal to a percentage of Cipher’s ATK to a single enemy target in Honkai: Star Rail.
  • Talent – At the start of an ally’s turn, if no enemy is under the Foretold effect, Cipher inflicts it on a random enemy, prioritizing the target with the highest HP.
  • Skill – Inflicts the Foretold effect, which deals Quantum damage scaling with Cipher’s ATK. The effect deals damage to the selected target and its adjacent enemies.
  • Ultimate – Cipher deals Quantum damage to a single enemy before dealing True damage equal to the value of the Wealth Bond effect, which is distributed among the target and its nearby enemies.

If an ally deals damage to an enemy affected by Foretold, Cipher will enter the Wealth Bond state. Cipher also has an interesting Technique effect in Honkai: Star Rail that allows her to enter Stealth, increasing her movement speed and automatically collecting treasures when passing by. Upon entering battle, she will deal damage to all enemies and record the damage in Wealth Bond.

Cipher’s signature Light Cone in Honkai: Star Rail will increase CRIT Rate. If the user deals damage with their Skill, it will lower the enemy’s defense. This effect increases if the attack turns out to be a CRIT Hit. Regarding Cipher’s release date, considering that she was announced after Hyacine, players can expect her to arrive in the second part of Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.3.
