Five years after it was first launched globally, Square Enix confirms War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius will shut down in May, following in the footsteps of its predecessor. SE and Gumi’s mobile-based tactical RPG is a spin-off from the original Brave Exvius – the global support for which ended in October 2024 – and features gameplay inspired by the beloved Final Fantasy Tactics. But War of the Visions will now be discontinued in just over two months.
Any time the discussion of the best Final Fantasy games comes up, there will always be (much-deserved) support for Tactics. War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius adapts that format for a modern audience. Diverging from the more traditional turn-based RPG style of the original Brave Exvius, it includes a gacha system to summon characters, and has featured plenty of crossovers with other games in the series. In the past year, FF13, FF8, FFX-2, and FF7 Advent Children have all made an appearance.

Unfortunately, Square Enix has just announced that its worldwide version will soon come to a halt. “We regret to announce that service for the War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius app will be discontinued as of 23:59 PST on May 29, 2025,” the publisher writes. The team apologizes for coming to this “difficult decision,” and thanks players for their support since launch.
The announcement comes on the fifth anniversary of the game’s global release. “We’ve strived to provide an enjoyable gaming experience for our players every day that could exceed the day before. However, we’ve come to the conclusion that it would be difficult to maintain a satisfactory app experience, and therefore [decided] to discontinue the app service.”
Global service for War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius will end on Thursday May 29, 2025 at 11:59pm PT (May 30 at 2:59am ET / 7:59am BST / 8:59am CET). In-game events will continue until the end of service. Square Enix notes that sales of its premium currency, Visiore, and its special shop have been stopped alongside this announcement, and that “in order to safeguard personal information, account information will be deleted once the relevant procedures for end of service have been completed.
