With the return of Mega Evolution in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, fans are likely to see a brand-new crop of critters receive new Mega forms in the upcoming game. While no Megas for Pokemon Legends: Z-A have been confirmed at this point, recent leaks suggest the game will include 27 new ones for players to experience. Among those leaked so far is the Ghost/Fire-type Chandelure, which seems like the perfect critter for the Mega Evolution treatment in Legends: Z-A.
Although Chandelure is originally a Gen 5 critter, the mon was available in the original Kalos Pokedex for Pokemon X and Y. It was shown off in the Pokemon Day 2025 trailer for Pokemon Legends: Z-A, confirming that the mon will be returning in this new title and subsequently shooting to the top of the most likely monsters to receive a new Mega Evolution. However, what that new Mega form could look like is still up to speculation, with some potential influences coming from Kalos’ real-world French inspiration.

Predicting What Mega Chandelure Could Look Like
Mega Evolution designs in the Pokemon series don’t usually move the needle too drastically from the mon’s base design, tending instead to exaggerate one aspect of the original. With Chandelure’s evolutionary line going from Litwick being based on a candle to Lampent being based on a lamp, and Chandelure being based on a chandelier, it seems likely that Mega Chandelure will take the chandelier concept and go a step further. While simply being a larger chandelier seems like the obvious design choice, there are a few ways Pokemon Legends: Z-A could make Mega Chandelure more visually distinct.
A core part of the Kalos Region’s aesthetic comes from the French Baroque and Rococco eras, where elegance and opulence influenced architecture and interior design, as can be seen in places like Pokemon X and Y‘s Parfum Palace. As such, Mega Chandelure adopting elements of a Baroque chandelier, such as the use of crystals and the fleur-de-lis, seems like a logical fit for an exaggerated Mega form. This type of change in visual design would also naturally allow Chandelure to gain some unique mechanical changes when it Mega Evolves.
Predicting Mega Chandelure’s Typing and Stats
If Mega Chandelure leans into the crystal chandelier motif, then it could potentially see a type change from Ghost/Fire to Ghost/Grass, with its ghostly flames becoming solid shards of glass or crystal and its arms becoming enveloped in stylized fleur-de-lis designs. While it might be a bit of a stretch to make the jump from a Fire to Grass-type, Chandelure can already learn several Grass-type attacks, like Solar Beam, Energy Ball, and Trailblaze. And with Pokemon Abilities seemingly gone from Pokemon Legends: Z-A, Mega Chandelure will need something to help it stand out as much as it would have with a new Ability gained through Mega Evolution.
Mega Chandelure could also easily remain a Ghost/Fire type and still fit this same design motif.

In terms of stat changes when Mega Evolving, Chandelure would ideally want to lean into its already high Special Attack, but also bulk up some of its defensive stats to aid its new Grass typing. The boost in Special Attack would allow Mega Chandelure to be the same type of offensive sweeper as its non-Mega form, and bumping up its Defense, Special Defense, and HP slightly would help it survive longer. These stats mean Mega Chandelure could be a solid mon to tank some hits while still being a very powerful Special sweeper, and potentially walling Water-types looking to take down Chandelure before it Mega Evolves.
