At some point after the disbandment of the Roger Pirates, Shanks and Blackbeard met each other in combat and it was here that Blackbeard took Shanks by surprise somehow.

He then proceeded to give him his scar across the eye. According to Shanks, this scar wasn’t when Shanks wasn’t focused. In fact, this scar was given to him by Blackbeard when he was fully aware of what he’s capable of. In other words, Shanks considers Blackbeard far more dangerous than the likes of Mihawk, and a threat even to the Yonko.

Right now, Shanks has done one of the things that he set out to do from Elbaf. He has repaid Bartolomeo for what he did to one of his territories. Shanks and Blackbeard are going to clash soon and there is only a small detail that needs to be addressed.
Before Shanks and Blackbeard fight each other, fans need to take a look at the issue surrounding Blackbeard and the Navy. Fans know Blackbeard intends to do a trade with the Navy over Garp. This could lead to the Navy launching an all-out attack on the Blackbeard Pirates. In other words, the Pirate Island could become the battleground for a big war fought over Garp.
It is highly likely that Shanks will be involved in this war in some way. In the Paramount War, Shanks came right at the very end to stop the war. It is possible that he’ll do something similar here as well. The Pirate Island could lead to a massive battle where all Four Emperors clash, with Blackbeard locking horns with his rival, Shanks.
