Summary
- Ultimate Guard has revealed a line of Boulders to match MTG’s SpongeBob Secret Lair.
- The headliner of the range is a Mocking SpongeBob Squaroe.
- The Boulder will be limited edition and only 3,000 of them will be sold.
Pre-orders for Magic: The Gathering’s SpongeBob SquarePants Secret Lair went live earlier this week. If you’re only learning of this now, you’re too late, it’s all sold out. If you did bag something from the new set and you want somewhere suitable to store the cards, you’re in luck.
Ultimate Guard has revealed a selection of Boulders – and a collection case – perfect for storing your incoming SpongeBob cards, and while there are a few to choose from, the Internet Sensation Squaroe is the stand-out. A recreation of the famous Mocking SpongeBob meme which means the meme is not only a card, but also a Boulder in which you can store that card.

The trading card game is once again leaning into crossovers, and Spongebob is already a winner.
MTG’s SpongeBob Secret Lair is split into three categories, the Internet Sensation category being the most interesting, to me at least. The cards include artwork recreating moments from the show that have become famous memes, Mocking SpongeBob being one of them. If you’re not familiar, it features SpongeBob hunched over, hands on his hips, his face contorted. If you have said something silly online, you will have likely had this meme sent to you in reply, your words crudely pasted onto it with the letters alternating between upper and lower case.

Not only is the Internet Sensation Squaroe the best of the SpongeBob Boulders, but it will also be the hardest to come by. Ultimate Guard has revealed there will only be 3,000 available, and once they’re gone, they’re gone, and that won’t take long. Don’t panic, the pre-order date hasn’t been revealed yet, but once it is, you will be able to secure your Mocking SpongeBob Boulder through the link in the box below for $24.99.

Squaroe SpongeBob SquarePants – Internet Sensation
SpongeBob SquarePants has his own Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair, and now Ultimate Guard has released a Boulder to match. The SpongeBob Squaroe has been modeled after the way SpongeBob looks in his famous mocking meme and can hold up to 120 single-sleeved cards.
If you don’t want to keep your Secret Lair cards in a Mocking SpongeBob Squaroe, there are a lot of other options, and they don’t appear to be limited to 3,000 pieces each, so they should be easier to get once pre-orders go live. Mrs. Puff, Mermaid Man, and the Flying Dutchman have also been given the Squaroe treatment and compressed into cuboids that will be available soon.
If you want some SpongeBob Squaroes right away, a couple of them are available now. Pearl and Sandy’s Boulders are already up at Ultimate Guard, as is a collectors case that has been designed to look like The Krusty Krab. The Krutsy Krab collector’s case can hold up to eight Squaroes, whether they be SpongeBob-themed or otherwise.
