Some of the quest steps in Destiny 2’s
Heresy episode require you to complete a short story mission. These missions don’t take much time to complete and offer some memorable narrative moments. Mission Captis is no exception, although it has an odd puzzle partway through that might confuse some players. Get comfortable shooting Acolyte’s Eyes, as you’ll need to break quite a few of them for this mission.
Today, we’ll be giving a short walkthrough of how to complete Mission Captis, including its rune puzzles that occur partway through the mission. We’ll also cover how to access this mission and what it unlocks once complete.
How To Start Mission Captis
Mission Captis is the final story mission in Act 2 of Heresy. The quest chain is unlocked immediately upon logging into Destiny 2 during this season, assuming you have Heresy ownership. Progress through the quest until this mission unlocks, then visit the Last City map to start the activity. It’s a fairly short activity that you can easily solo, although it has a somewhat tricky puzzle partway through.
Complete The Binding
Make your way to Eris Morn’s location aboard the Dreadnaught. She’ll tell you to stand on a nearby Hive plate to start the binding ritual. The Subjugator from the start of the season will spawn shortly thereafter, impervious to all incoming damage. The Subjugator isn’t the focus here. Eliminate all of the adds until a wall of Acolyte Eyes spawn.
How To Complete The Symbol Puzzle
A wall of eyes will spawn near the middle of the arena and repeatedly respawn if you destroy the wrong one. Look at the floating Hive Rune near the Subjugator. Your goal is to make the wall of Acolyte Eyes match the symbol. It’s the same mechanic seen in the Witness fight in
For example, the first Hive Rune is similar to a lower-case “n” shape with ellipses on top. There’s a row of five eyes on top. We need three, so you’d shoot two of them to create the ellipses on top. This recreates the symbol perfectly, spawning the next puzzle wall.
The second symbol is a V shape, sometimes called “pizza” by the community. Shoot the eyes until you recreate the wall shown above. You’re looking to make a pointed tip at the bottom of the wall.
Finally, you’ll need to recreate the circle Hive Rune. Shoot the three middle Acolyte’s Eyes to finish the symbol.
With all three runes enacted, clear the remaining adds to finish the mission. Sloane will be waiting for you at Eris’ flat in The Last City to debrief you on the operation’s success. This concludes the story for Act 2. Once Act 3 becomes available, you’ll be able to continue the story right after this mission.
