While Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition is primarily a single-player game, there are some optional online multiplayer components to it. In the original Wii U version of the game, multiplayer missions were the main method for acquiring Reward Tickets, which gave players access to powerful endgame materials. Reward Tickets have been replaced in the Switch version with Material Tickets, but they still function in a similar manner. Here is how you can earn them in Xenoblade Chornicles X: Definitive Edition.

How to Get Material Tickets in Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition?
There are several different methods for acquiring Material Tickets in Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition. While they will be discussed in depth below, the three main ways of acquiring Material Tickets is throw the daily Division Rewards, Survey Rate milestone rewards, and completing online missions.
Division Rewards
Once per day, if you navigate to the Online tab of the in-game menu, you will see an option called Rewards. In addition to being where you can claim your rewards if your avatar is scouted by another player, you will see an option called Division Rewards. Division Rewards consist of helpful consumable items like Personal Patch and Mega Tensifier. You also get a small amount of Credits and some Material Tickets. If you log in everyday, you will be able to get a slow but consistent amount of Material Tickets.
Survey Rate Milestone Rewards
Every time you increase your Survey Rate for a region by 5%, you will gain a bonus reward that gets progressively better the closer you get to 100%. For example, reaching 60% Survey Rate for Oblivia will reward you with 240 Material Tickets. You also get additional Material Tickets at 85%, 95%, and 100%. These are a one-time bonus for each region in the game, so it isn’t something that can be reliably farmed. Especially since reaching such a high Survey Rating takes time.
Online Missions
The last and most reliable method for getting Material Tickets is to repeatedly farm Online Missions at the Network Console in the BLADE Barracks. There is a series of rotating Online Missions that you can run. The level requirements vary, but the higher level the mission is, the more Material Tickets you can earn. There are no restrictions on how many times you can run these missions, so you can easily load up a podcast and farm Material Tickets. This makes Online Missions the most reliable method for obtaining Material Tickets so long as the service remains.
If you don’t want to play Online Missions with other players, you don’t have to. All you need to do is set Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition to Online Mode and then create a Private Squad. You can do these missions with your AI companions or by recruiting player avatars, so playing with other players is not mandatory. You will still need a Nintendo Switch Online subscription to do these missions, though.
How to Use Material Tickets
On the Online section of the menu, you will see an option at the bottom called Material Market. This is where you can spend your Material Tickets. On the Material Market, you can purchase every single material in the game. This even includes materials required for quests and materials used to craft powerful endgame gear. You can even purchase materials that drop from Yggralith Zero, the Global Nemesis. The higher quality the material is, the more Material Tickets it will take to purchase it.
Try to avoid wasting your tickets on common items if you can help it. It is better to save them for the more powerful materials.
