One of the main cosmetics you can collect in Final Fantasy 14 is the game’s various Minions, and this ever-growing collection is not stopping soon. Patch 7.2 of Dawntrail has brought even more critters to the list, making it even harder to settle down if you’re one of those looking to catch them all.

Patch 7.2 brings three new emotes to FF14. Learn how to unlock them by using this guide.

Fortunately, most of them are easier to get than those introduced during previous updates. Don’t be fooled – you’ll still need to work hard for those small pets. But persistence is key this time, so as long as you keep pursuing them, you’ll eventually get what you want.

Patch 7.2 had a modest addition of three Minions in total. They all come from very different sources, but are all quite straightforward when it comes to acquiring them. More minions may be added in future updates to 7.2.

Minion

How To Obtain

Royal Hound

Random drop from the Level 100 Dungeon ‘The Underkeep’.

This Minion can also be bought from the Market Board.

The Deathservant

Reward from the ‘When Death Comes to Dinner’ Side Quest.

Clockwork Oppressor

Level 15 reward from the PvP Series 8 Malmstones.

Royal Hound

New dungeons tend to add a special Minion as its rare drop, and The Underkeep was no exception to this. The Royal Hound can be randomly obtained from the dungeon after opening the final chest. It has a low drop chance, and you’ll still need to roll higher than others, so getting it this way can be tough.

If you want to keep it simple, you can buy it from the Market Board, as people are always eager to add those for sale. However, keep in mind that it’ll not be a cheap buy, especially if you look for it trying to snatch it days after its release. Prices vary between Worlds, so hopping between them to find the best price is a good call.

The Deathservant

The Cornservant quests were a hidden gem from the base Dawntrail patch, consisting of finding the namesake character and aiding it in its noble quest of lending corn to those who needed it. You eventually get the Cornservent itself as a Minion, and the sequel brings a new Servant to the table.

The Deathservant is obtained during the follow-up quest for the Cornservant saga, and also joins your ever-increasing roster of miniature characters. You need to complete its whole quest line, which consists of:

  • Corn of Necessity – Tuliyollal (X:16.4, Y:12.8)
  • Too Much of a Good Thing – Urqopacha (X:28.6, Y:13.7)
  • Stretched Thin – Kozama’uka (X:17.8, Y:11.5)
  • A Stomach for Change – Yak T’el (X:13.4, Y:13.4)
  • Tastes Like Home – Shaaloani (X:29.0, Y:29.0)
  • Refined Taste – Heritage Found (X:17.7, Y:9.7)
  • Tasteful Memories – Solution Nine (X:17.6, Y:14.2)

All quests must be done in order. Once you’re done with those, return to where you first found the Cornservant in Tuliyollal (X:16.4, Y:12.8) to grab the ‘When Death Comes to Dinner’ quest, rewarding you with the deadly (but cute) Servant variant.

Clockwork Oppressor

The final Minion on the list is based on another robot from the Alexander storyline, which is also used as a prop during certain PvP modes. And completing tons of PvP matches is precisely how you can obtain the rewards for the 7.2 Series Malmstones.

Any PvP mode gives you Series experience, but winning always gives you some more points. You can slowly grind your way up to Level 15 with Frontline Daily Roulettes, or give it a boost with some Crystalline Conflict matches. Whichever method you choose, getting to Level 15 could take a while, so level it at your own pace.

Series Malmstones rewards are unavailable once a new patch rolls out, but will eventually become available in the future for purchase with Trophy Crystals. If you don’t get the Clockwork Oppressor before Patch 7.3 arrives, it’ll only be available after a few months, possibly years.
