While you can get higher health by equipping armor and accessories in Core Keeper, it’s not permanent. That health only lasts as long as you have that armor or accessory equipped – and if it’s armor, it has to have durability left. If you want more health permanently, you’ll have to find some special consumables.

Core Keeper: How To Get Copper Keys

When first setting out in Core Keeper, you may come across several locked copper chests; here, you can learn how to open them.

These consumables are filled with a strange power, and there’s no way for you to grow them like normal crops, and lesser enemies won’t drop them. If you want to be as strong as possible, you’ll have to scour the underground for where they hide, from the blazing desert to the dangerous jungles.

How To Permanently Increase Your Max Health

Player character fishing in lava with a Solarite Fishing Rod and catching a Starlight Nautilus in Core Keeper.

There are a total of nine special food items that, when consumed, permanently boost your Max Health by a specific amount, regardless of when they’re obtained and used.

  • Two of them are event-related.
  • Four of them are obtained from specific scenes.
  • Two of them are obtained from defeating bosses.
  • One is obtained from fishing.

You can only obtain the Max Health buff once per consumable, but any duplicates can still be eaten for their food bonus or cooked into different dishes in a Cooking Pot.

In some cases, the item also provides some extra buffs as well, such as the Anniversary Cake giving a bonus to your Glow stat, making them handy to have around even if you’ve already gotten the Max Health from them.

You can tell whether you’ve obtained a consumable’s Max Health buff by checking their description. If the Max Health and only eaten once text is green, you haven’t eaten it. If you have, the text will be grayed out instead.
