There are some clear stalwarts in the city-building genre. There’s Cities Skylines, SimCity, and more recent additions like Dystopika. Overthrown, however, does things a bit differently, tasking you with creating a new township by lifting entire buildings or throwing boulders out of your way. The chaotic indie title has just gotten a slew of new content as part of its Nature Update, adding a host of new features, including everything from brand new weapons of mass destruction to giant mutant boars.
Releasing in early-access at the end of last year, Overthrown is a brand new take on the traditional city building game fare. While normally you’re asked to drag and drop structures as a mighty in-game overlord, Overthrown has you getting down and dirty, picking up buildings – or even citizens – with your own two hands and throwing them around.

Maximum Entertainment has just released Overthrown’s second major update, despite being entitled the Nature Update, there’s a whole variety of new content. With a new builder’s workshop, forager’s hut, and weaving mill, there are now even more items at your disposal – whether it be decorative things like adding a cute Scarecrow in the middle of your crop field, or more destructive creations like field mortars.
Alongside this, Tuskers can now go mutant, because more chaos is always more fun. Tuskers mutate after a day of being alive and are hostile, so ensure you’re armed when wondering through the forest.
You can also now run a Woolie farm, and in true Overthrown nature, you can punch Woolies to shear them, because why be delicate, right? However, be warned as these can become mutants, too, and after all of that punching, they might be out for vengeance.
And what better than to fight giant mutant animals with than the all new, equally giant, Greathammer? This brand new weapon can cause knockback and stun enemies, making it the perfect tool for traversing the land and, by the looks of the above trailer, it looks pretty OP.
You can see the full range of changes here. If you’re yet to pick up (and throw) this chaotic city-builder title, then luckily Overthrown is currently on sale over on Steam, down to $16.99 / £13.16.
