In addition to a new island being added to the map, we’ve also got a sneak peek at the two new characters set to join the roster in the free PC game. The Genshin Impact 5.6 release date is most likely going to arrive on May 7, 2025. Hoyoverse rarely ever deviates from its release schedule cadence, and judging by the end date of the 5.5 update, there’s a strong possibility it will land in the second week of May.
Genshin Impact 5.6 new characters
The two new characters set to arrive in Genshin Impact 5.6 are Escoffier and Ifa.
Escoffier was first spotted in Varesa’s character trailer, though we only caught a glimpse of the back of her head. The trailer also revealed that Escoffier uses an Ousia-aligned Cryo Vision, and based on what we’ve seen from her leaked kit, it appears she’s going to be a support unit that focuses on buffing other Cryo party members. It’s unclear whether Escoffier is a five-star character, but based on what we’ve seen of her abilities, we’re confident in saying she will be the lead character on an upcoming banner.
Ifa is an Anemo Vision wielding Catalyst user who focuses on healing while also boosting Elemental Mastery for his party. We don’t have any confirmation about Ifa’s rarity, but he’s almost certainly a four-star character based on his constellations. Most five-star characters have powerful C1 and C2 abilities, whereas Ifa’s most powerful constellations occur at C6 like many four-star characters.
Genshin Impact 5.6 new island and boss
There’s a new island being added to the map, which some fans have pointed out looks a lot like the Petrichor region located south of Fontaine.
This island is likely going to feature the new world boss, Secret Source Automation: Overseer Device, in addition to the weekly boss set to arrive in Mondstadt. The Overseer Device deals Cryo damage and is weak to Nightsoul’s Blessing abilities, so you should prepare your party with Natlan characters.
