City Of The Wolves Confirms Cristiano Ronaldo Is A Guest Character

Summary

  • SNK has confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo will be the first guest character added to Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves.
  • In two separate gameplay trailers, we can see the Portuguese footballer beating up Terry with a mixture of ranged and close-up combos.
  • Yes, you can also ‘Siu’ after beating your opponents.

Guest characters are pretty much expected in fighting games these days. Mortal Kombat 1 has added the likes of Conan the Barbarian and the T-1000, while Tekken 8 recently added Clive from Final Fantasy 16. Even fighting games that don’t normally do guest characters have been jumping on the bandwagon, with Street Fighter 6’s inclusion of Terry and Mai from Fatal Fury, and Guilty Gear Strive’s addition of Lucy from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.

Whether you like them or not, they’re all thematically relevant at the very least, easily fitting into the aesthetic of their games. You can’t really say the same for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves though, as SNK recently confirmed rumors that Portuguese football legend Cristiano Ronaldo is being added as the game’s first guest character.

Fatal Fury: City Of The Wolves Confirms Cristiano Ronaldo Is A Guest Character

SNK revealed Ronaldo’s inclusion in the game via a new trailer uploaded to its official YouTube channel earlier today, in which we see a bit of gameplay. We can see that Ronaldo has a mixture of close up and ranged attacks, using a football to hit a probably very confused Terry Bogard from a distance.

We sat down with Yasuyuki Oda at Tokyo Game Show to discuss all things Fatal Fury, including how the Capcom collaboration came to be.

In another trailer uploaded shortly after the reveal, we see even more gameplay, which includes a look at some snazzy combos you can pull off with Ronaldo. More importantly though, it also confirms that Ronaldo will hit you with a “Siuuuu” if he manages to land his Hidden Gear super, so there’s a little extra incentive to play your best against him.

Given that these trailers have no release dates attached to them, apart from Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves’ general release date of April 4, we can probably assume that Ronaldo will be in the game at launch as part of the base roster. We have now reached the point where guest characters can be quite literally anything, so I am now expecting Capcom to put Mohamed Salah in Street Fighter 6. It’s only fair.
