The Witcher 4, previously codenamed Project Polaris, was officially announced through a thrilling, cinematic trailer that debuted at The Games Awards 2024, revealing Ciri as this installment’s protagonist. After the reveal trailer, controversy arose when fans claimed Ciri’s model was different in a behind-the-scenes video for The Witcher 4. However, CDPR devs were quick to set the record straight.

During CDPR’s recent financial earnings report, the studio reported The Witcher spin-off, Project Sirius, continues in pre-production, and the studio confirmed developer The Molasses Flood had merged with CDPR devs to “ensure even better alignment in the scope and direction of the project.” Additionally, The Witcher 1 remake, known as Project Canis Majoris, is still in its concept phase, while CDPR announced a “small portion” of developer Fool’s Theory would be lending a hand to The Witcher 4’s development, targeting to produce the “necessary assets, tools, and pipelines ready for more efficient development of The Witcher remake.” Fans already have a wishlist for The Witcher 1’s remake after the endeavor was announced in October 2022, and it sounds like CDPR is making a conscious effort to develop the remake cohesively with the greater Witcher series.
CD Projekt Red Provides Significant Update on Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 Projects
The Cyberpunk 2077 community believes a long wait may be in store for Project Orion, the sequel to the 2020 action RPG, but CDPR confirmed development will shortly be entering into pre-production in the “coming weeks,” after the concept phase is completed. Furthermore, the allusive new Cyberpunk 2077 animation for Netflix is still in development, and CDPR also drew attention to several undisclosed projects in the works, including a new front by Fool’s Theory, and noted Project Hadar, the studio’s new IP, has “progressed over the last year, becoming more detailed.”
Finally, CDPR announced it had begun a “strategic partnership” with the mobile developer Scopely. This union will “develop,” and while awaiting confirmation, fans are hazarding a guess that this mobile project will exist within the Witcher or Cyberpunk 2077 universes. In recent news, the popular AR mobile game Pokemon GO was sold to Scopely after Niantic ran operations for nine years, which suggests the American studio is expanding its name in the gaming industry since it’s collaborating with CDPR as well.
