Azuchi Castle is going to be one of the most difficult castles to clear in all of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. It’s not just that it’s a high-level castle, and it is, but it also cannot be completed until you’ve progressed far enough in Yasuke’s story.

Azuchi Castle is going to be difficult for a couple of different reasons. One is that it’s a level 40 castle, meaning you’re going to need to be nearing that level to have a chance. Second is that the samurai that you’ll need to fight to clear this castle are in very claustrophobic conditions, making a fight against multiple enemies almost inevitable.
How To Find Azuchi Castle
Azuchi Castle is in the Omi region, which in itself is not a particularly high-level region. Azuchi Castle is on the eastern coast of Lake Biwa, and located across the lake from Sakamoto.
Azuchi Castle itself has a large area, and much of it is not relevant to clearing the castle itself. Still, there are a lot of buildings to the south of it, as the land and structure climb upward.
How To Enter Azuchi Castle
There are quite a few ways to enter Azuchi Castle, which makes sense, considering its size.
- You can grapple up much of the exterior of the structure. This isn’t true in every spot, but in many spots, you can begin to climb the wall with Naoe, and then use her grapple to connect to the wall at the apex of her jump.
- There’s a staircase entrance on the southeast side.
- There’s scaffolding that you can climb up on the northeast side. This is an extremely simple way to get up and if you’re careful, is a way to get inside without being spotted.
- There’s also an entrance on the north side.
It’s worth mentioning that there are large portions of the area where you’re allowed to be and won’t be attacked on sight. For the most part, the only areas where you’ll be immediately attacked are the main building and the Eastern Barracks. Unsurprisingly, those two places are where we’ll need to go.
Where To Find The Samurai In Azuchi Castle
There are four different samurai in Azuchi Castle, but they’re grouped in pairs.
First And Second Samurai
These two samurai are in the Eastern Barracks. This area is going to have a few regular enemies as well, two of which are sparring.
One of the samurai is going to be watching the two people sparring. He’s not going to move unless something happens that he needs to investigate.
The other samurai is just south of this, on the outskirts of the barracks. This samurai is going to patrol back and forth, but still often inside of view of the other samurai.
The issue with these two samurai is that it’s going to be difficult to fight them individually. If you can manage to get a lethal assassination off, it’s going to help you immensely. The samurai watching the sparring match is a good choice for this since you can get behind him easily.
Third And Fourth Samurai
The other two samurai are in the main building of Azuchi Castle, which is the tallest structure. Specifically, one samurai is going to be on the second floor, and one samurai is going to be on the third floor.
This is going to be particularly complicated, and using Yasuke here might make it quite a bit easier. This will be a claustrophobic fight, and enemies will jump into the fight late from other floors as they hear the commotion. Yasuke can hold his own in these situations better, where Naoe is going to have some issues.
These areas are full of enemies, and pulling off an assassination is going to be extremely difficult. It’s not impossible, but expecting a fight is going to ensure that you’re at least ready for the worst-case scenario.
Where To Find The Legendary Chest In Azuchi Castle
The legendary chest in Azuchi Castle is located on the third floor of the building, in the same room as the samurai on that floor. This chest is going to contain the Ship Captain’s Mask for Yasuke, which is going to allow him to parry ranged attacks, sending them back at enemies.
Kano Painting
There is more to loot in this castle besides the legendary chest. There’s a Kano Painting on the second floor, near the samurai on that floor. Since you’re likely to be fighting more or less everybody in the building, you’re probably going to be able to get that legendary chest and that painting at the same time, once everybody (but you) is dead.
Data Fragments
There is also a chest with data fragments in one of the upper floors of the castle. This floor is not quite as heavily guarded as the floors below it, but the room in question will have a couple of enemies inside.
