Among Us Details New Update for 2025

Summary

  • Innersloth launched a major Among Us update with matchmaking menu changes based on player feedback.
  • Players can now see movement speed, player count, and Roles, and set filters for online multiplayer matches.
  • The update also features a collaboration with the Like a Dragon series through a new Cosmicube.

On March 25, Innersloth launched a major Among Us update that changed the way the game’s matchmaking menus work and feel, and the developers confirmed that the user interface changes were made after gathering player feedback. The new Among Us update also introduced a collaboration with the Like A Dragon series via a new Cosmicube that players can earn new cosmetics from.

Following its quiet 2018 launch, the popularity of Among Us took off during the COVID-19 pandemic, when content creators started picking up the game and sharing it with their audiences. Since then, the game’s core development has not slowed down, as Innersloth continued releasing updates and introducing quality-of-life features for their players to use. Between the different Internet memes that spawned from players’ antics and the collaborations with different franchises such as Critical Role and Fall Guys, Among Us has remained one of the most successful indie games currently available on multiple platforms.

Among Us Launches Matchmaking Rework In March 2025 Update

The new user interface for multiplayer matches shows player movement speed rates, the current and maximum player count, and whether Roles such as Engineer and Shapeshifter are active. Players can also set filters to see other lobbies that meet their specific criteria, including game types, server regions, Impostor counts, and primary language. Maps such as The Skeld and Polus HQ can also be picked from these filters. Although Among Us supports LAN-based matchmaking, the online multiplayer menu changes were made due to player feedback.

Among Us also changed the way patches are named, with version 16.0.0 being the name of the March 2025 update. Additionally, Among Us players can earn new cosmetic rewards by purchasing the Kamurocho Cosmicube, which was made as part of a collaboration with the Like a Dragon series. Players can earn costumes based on iconic Like a Dragon characters like Kiryu, Ichiban, and Majima, from their hairstyles to various outfits from the games they appeared in. The Kamurocho Cosmicube is available for 110 Stars, or $9.99, until June 24.

Between the March 2025 update and the continued development of Among Us 3D by Schell Games, the stealthy game of sabotage continues to be prominent. Only time will tell what else Innersloth will offer Among Us fans throughout the year.
