In Xenoblade Chronicles X, Celica is already among the most unique party members you’ll encounter. She and Neilnail are the only Qlurians on your team and basically the only notable ones in the entire game. Celica sets herself apart via her friendship with the giant softie Gaur named Rock.
As memorable as she is, many players kick her to the curb when it comes to their active party due to how her incredibly helpful buffs only apply to her. But she deals some fantastic damage for a support character, so she’s definitely worthy of a spot in your Xenoblade Chronicles X party if you’re willing to give her a chance.

Nopon tend to get the short end of the stick when it comes to favorite party members and an even shorter end when it comes to fans’ patience. It’s true, they can be a bit loud in the same way that League of Legends can be a bit toxic. But if you were that adorable, you’d take advantage too. (Don’t worry, you’re definitely still adorable.)
Energetic family man Riki is probably among the most beloved Nopon in the Xenoblade series, but within his own game, he often gets left out of the active lineup by those who would rather their experience be the more relaxing sort. If you bring him along, though, you’ll find that he grows on you, both in terms of his personality and his shockingly high HP making him a delightfully viable tank.

If you picked one word to describe how Xenoblade Chronicles 2 sets itself apart from the rest of the series, “subtlety” would not be it. From the personalities to the famously divisive character designs, there’s a whole lot of “in your face” going on in this entry. So someone with a more subdued and composed personality like Morag might not be immediately noticeable in comparison.
The thing is, she should be. This unflappable leader is a brilliant foil to the shenanigans of the rest of her often hopeless party, and she brings an air of cool strategy when Rex’s power of friendship somehow isn’t enough to save the world on its own. Between that, her connection with her Blade, Brighid, and her impeccable skill as a Driver, you’d be well suited to bring her along more often.

Poor Sharla. She’s been through so much and become so skilled with that giant gun of hers, and yet, many fans often write her off as soon as she joins the team. There’s something to be said about how her personal arc revolves primarily around the men in her life, like her brother Juju and fiance Gadolt, but it’s not her fault she was written that way.

Poppi may be stretching the definition of “party member” just a bit. But as a manufactured Blade, she’s a required presence when you have Tora on your team. Tora himself is not underrated. That lecherous Nopon is rated at the exact skeevy level he deserves. So the honor goes to his endearing little robotic creation.

There’s a joke in the Xenoblade fandom about how Melia is always left by the wayside in one way or another. Whether it’s her poor luck in love or simply being passed over due to a perceived lack of utility in battle, it’s well past time she got a proper glow-up in the eyes of fans, and no, her re-appearance in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 isn’t enough.
One of the main reasons people often leave Melia out of their party is that the game’s AI really doesn’t know what to do with her. But if you set her as the party leader, you can unleash some serious hurt on enemies while making your allies nigh on unstoppable. Come on, this poor royal bird lady’s crush on Shulk already fell on deaf ears. Let her have this.

One of the many advantages of how Xenoblade Chronicles 3 handles its party is that everybody is an active member at all times. This means that as many times as you switch over just to hear “yus, Eunie’s the boss” in the field, everybody still gets an equal position, and that includes when it comes to story. Despite that, it’s difficult to deny that Taion doesn’t quite see as much love from the fans as the rest.
Maybe it’s his lack of cheeky post-battle lines living rent-free in players’ heads, or maybe it’s something unfortunately more real. But he’s got real depth, especially as seen in his personal quest, and his paper-based weapon is seriously creative.

It took until Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition for the formerly Wii U-exclusive game to gain an audience closer to the one it deserved, and as such, that same long time for fans to finally get to know Elma, the game’s true protagonist. The thing is, even now, many will quickly eject her from their party when a bigger damage dealer comes along.
But not only is she still a viable party member through the entire game, her own story is fascinating, especially given how Xenoblade Chronicles X’s narrative lacks some of the relative “oomph” of the other games. Due to that, Elma also often gets shoved aside when it comes to ranking the main characters from each game. But at the very least, you have to admit she’s got a far better fashion sense than Rex.
