The One Piece world is massive and is filled with interesting locations, various cultures, and different peoples. From the early days of the series, Elbaf was the island surrounded by the greatest hype ever since the Straw Hats had their adventure in Little Garden, where they met the legendary captains of the Giant Warrior Pirates, Dorry and Brogy. Many years and chapters later, the crew have finally reached the mythical land of the Giants.

Although the arc itself is underway and has only been airing for a few months at the time of writing, many have already begun to theorize where the story will go next once the Straw Hats’ escapades on Elbaf come to a close. So, in this article, let’s go over the possible locations that could serve as the next arc of One Piece and why these specific islands edge out over the others.

Where Is The Series Going Next?

The Likely Possible Locations After Elbaf

When the adventure of the Straw Hats started, the goal of reaching the Grand Line proved to be at the top of their list of priorities. It showed that the goals of each member of the crew could somehow only be achieved once they reached this particular stretch of sea, which they eventually managed to do. Their adventure would then eventually take them from being random nobodies to the crew of one of the Emperors of the Sea.

As far as the world knows, the last island on the Grand Line is the fabled Lodestar Island, which is the point where all 7 of the different Log Pose paths eventually converge. Due to this, and the fact that the only ones to visit it in the last 800 years were the Roger Pirates, it was once believed that this was the most important island in the setting, so fans and characters within the story alike have been waiting for the day when the Straw Hats arrive here. So, many fans are convinced that Lodestar will be the destination that the heroes will go to after Elbaf.

There is some proof behind this too, despite some in the community stating that Lodestar is now irrelevant in the greater scheme of things due to knowledge of Laugh Tale. Many believe that, at the end of Elbaf, the crew is destined to reunite with the legendary Scopper Gaban, whom many believe to be the mysterious Man Marked By Flames. Theories regarding his importance are widespread, and if this speculation about his identity proves to be true, it will ultimately lead the crew to the final Road Poneglyph.

However, fans who believe in the likelihood of seeing Lodestar are convinced that if Scopper is the Man Marked By Flames, he may have hidden the final Road Poneglyph away from himself in order to keep it safe until the right person gets to it. If this is the case, then him hiding it on Lodestar is the perfect way to ensure its secrecy, which he will impart to Luffy and his crew. This would provide the best possible incentive to ensure Lodestar remains an integral arc and island to the overall story, as many have always believed it to be so.

I’ve heard the stories about you, Straw Hat Luffy! Including that you took care of Kaido! Boy, I’d love to go traveling around Wano again…

However, there is a small contingent of fans who aren’t as sold on this belief. They state that keeping the final Road Poneglyph away from himself would be incredibly reckless of Scopper, so it’s likely that he kept it with himself on Elbaf where it would be safest due to the Giants offering the best protection possible from the clutches of the World Government.

If this ends up being true and Scopper gives the Road Poneglyph rubbings to the Straw Hats, they would then gain the final piece of the puzzle and would be able to triangulate the location of Laugh Tale. Once this happens, it would render the need to go to Lodestar obsolete since the final prize for Luffy’s dream would be there for the taking. If Elbaf is actually the arc that finally gives the Straw Hats the final Road Poneglyph, then the next arc is almost assuredly going to be Laugh Tale.

Lodestar vs. Laugh Tale – Which Would Be Better?

The Better Location To Go For The Story

Lodestar First Mention

One Piece, Chapter 820, “The Dog and Cat Have a History”

Laugh Tale First Mention

One Piece, Chapter 105, “Log Pose”

Without any debate, it’s known that Laugh Tale is the most important island in the entire One Piece story and will definitely be the final one that the heroes will reach. None have been able to locate this island in 800 years, so the story will reach its climax once the Straw Hats do get there, but arguably, Lodestar would be the better option once the Elbaf arc concludes.

The main reason for this is the fact that Lodestar is steeped in almost the same amount of mystery and has been teased since the start of the series. Just like Laugh Tale, no one has been able to reach it in 800 years except for the Roger Pirates, and it’s where all Log Poses end, so it’s almost confirmed to be a prerequisite to reach as the penultimate island on the Grand Line before the true end of the path with Laugh Tale.

One Piece can be streamed on Crunchyroll.
