Summary
- Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will have “some” romance options.
- The romance in the game will involve “romantic feeding” with other vampire characters.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 won’t be with us until October of this year, but more details are coming out today. This gives us some insight into the very, very long-awaited sequel, which has been through a lengthy, messy development.
One of these details includes how romance will work. We’ve come to expect romance from most RPGs now – even Avowed had an option after the devs said there wouldn’t be one. So, how will it work in Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2?

The iconic RPG will leave you hungry for another game like it. There isn’t one.
Thankfully, PC Gamer put this question to developer The Chinese Room. Here, the devs say that romance will work a little differently than it does in other games, and might not be the romantic subplots we get in other games. They will also involve blood, because of course they do.
Will Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 Have Romance?
To answer the question simply, creative director Alex Skidmore says there are “some” romance options. However, they might not follow the same formula as other games.
“Vampire romance isn’t the same as human romance,” Skidmore says. More specifically, he says this involves “romantic feeding”.
“So there are points with named vampires, where if you have played your card rights, you can do a romantic feed.” That does seem to be exactly what it sounds like – feeding off of someone, romantically. Awww…
Narative director Ian Thomas went into further detail on this. “As Alex said, romance is very different amongst vampires, and non-traditional, but there are definitely relationships in there – as would happen if you’ve been with the same group of people for 100 years,” he explains. “And that’s an interesting part of the puzzle – figuring out who is allied with who, whether that be a romantic alliance or political. So they probably could have lots of things going on behind closed doors.”
We’ll have to wait a little longer to see what these involve, in any case. Earlier today, The Chinese Room gave us an update, saying that the game has been completed but will not be ready for the first half of 2025 as planned. Now, as the devs start bug fixing, the game is set to launch in October 2025, with a more specific date coming later.
