Starring on hit TV shows like The Last Of Us takes a lot of hard work, and Pedro Pascal, who plays Joel on the HBO adaptation of the popular video game, starts each day with a lot of caffeine.
Almost two years after a fan shared Pascal’s favorite Starbucks drink on TikTok in March 2023, Pascal appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on March 24th, 2025 and talked about the wild beverage he loves. While of course fans want to know more about The Last of Us season 2 after watching the trailer, everyone is still talking about Pascal’s unique and specific order. Around the 2:58 minute mark on the YouTube clip from the fun and hilarious interview, Jimmy Kimmel asks the actor about the order, which is an iced quad espresso including six espresso shots and extra ice. Considering that many people enjoy one or two cups of coffee every morning, that’s definitely a lot more caffeine than most have.

After watching Pedro Pascal as Joel in The Last Of Us, fans can’t stop praising the actor, and he has had an amazing career.
Kimmel called it “insane” and Pascal said:
“There’s so much context to why it has become six shots of espresso. It was always a quad but then I feel like the cups got bigger and, I don’t know, the shots got less strong. At some point, it became six… It was an incredibly private morning ritual that I never wanted anyone to know about.”
Pascal also talked about once he has some caffeine, he’s ready for the day and answers emails. While many people are used to starting their day by checking their emails and enjoying a hot cup of coffee or perhaps a latte, chances are that Pascal’s fans aren’t having quite as much caffeine as him. According to PEOPLE, the drink has 400 milligrams of caffeine. TikTok user @alexafromspace originally shared the Starbucks order in March 2023. According to Heathline, 240 milligrams/8 ounces of coffee drinks tend to have between 102 and 200 milligrams of caffeine. Energy drinks have between 50 and 160 milligrams and espresso has the most at between 240 and 720.
While fans were of course alarmed to hear how much caffeine the actor drinks, he is otherwise healthy, as proven by his training regimens for his acting roles. Pascal explained to Entertainment Tonight in 2024 that he “got stronger than I’ve ever been just so that I can play the character, really” in Gladiator II. He played General Marcus Acacius in the action sequel which came out in 2024. Pascal also trained hard to play Joel in The Last of Us and, according to British GQ, focused on core exercises and body weight training.
Pascal’s amazing career has included a role on Law & Order, the voice of Fink in the 2024 movie The Wild Robot, Javier Peña on Narcos, and The Mandalorian/Din Djarin on The Mandalorian. Fans can’t wait to see Pascal in the upcoming movie The Mandalorian and Grogu. Viewers enjoyed looking for clues and hints at what’s to come in The Last of Us season 2 trailer, and the new season will premiere on HBO Max on April 13th, 2025.
