A new leak from Pokemon Legends: Z-A suggests that the highly-anticipated follow-up to Pokemon Legends: Arceus will not be introducing any new species of Pokemon to the franchise. The next entry in the beloved monster-catching series has already seen plenty of details revealed by Game Freak and The Pokemon Company surrounding this year’s “Pokemon Day” celebration. A new trailer gave fans their first look at the re-imagined Lumiose City, while also showing off a brand-new Pokemon battle system and teasing plenty of returning favorites. However, one popular aspect of Legends: Arceus will reportedly not be making an appearance.
The first game in the Pokemon Legends subseries brought plenty of major changes from the franchise’s main games, with Arceus bringing lots of new ideas to the table. Pokemon Legends: Arceus features a markedly different battle system from other main-series games, introducing both “Agile” and “Strong” attacks with a revamped turn order. Legends: Arceus also followed previous Pokemon games with an array of “regional variants,” including new forms of the final evolutions of its three starter Pokemon. Now, a new leak is suggesting that Pokemon Legends: Z-A may not be seeing any new Pokemon companions.

A recent leak shared by prominent Pokemon leaker Centro Leaks implies that Legends: Z-A‘s new Pokemon selection may be somewhat limited. According to the post, Pokemon Legends: Z-A will not introduce any “new species” of Pokemon to the game, instead relying on past inclusions to fill out its roster. Pokemon Legends: Arceus had previously introduced multiple new evolutions for its “Noble Pokemon” bosses, including Ursaluna, Kleavor, and Sneasler. The leak could also suggest that Legends: Z-A will not be receiving any new regional variant Pokemon either.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A Will Not Add New Pokemon
The lack of new Pokemon within Legends: Z-A will likely disappoint many fans hopeful to see unique spins on classic Pokemon. Beyond the starter trio, Pokemon Legends: Arceus introduced multiple new regional variants to the Hisui region, including alternate versions of fan-favorites like Arcanine, Electrode, and Zoroark among others. Many fans have also speculated that the “A” portion of the game’s title could have been hinting at a new Legendary Pokemon joining the game alongside Zygarde. Pokemon Legends: Z-A is expected to release sometime during 2025.
While Pokemon Legends: Z-A will not introduce any fully new species, the game is welcoming the return of a classic mechanic that may be coming with new designs. Legends: Z-A will feature Mega Evolutions for the first time since Pokemon Let’s Go! Pikachu and Eevee, with multiple Mega Pokemon already confirmed to be making a comeback. Leaks have also suggested that Legends: Z-A will feature several new Mega Evolutions for Pokemon like Starmie and Chandelure. Pokemon Legends: Z-A looks to once again break new ground for the franchise with its launch later this year.
