Summary

  • The Elbaf arc of One Piece may reveal Loki as a potential ruler, with his innocence in his father’s death questioned.
  • Loki’s potential role as the King of Giants is overshadowed by theories of his alliance with the Straw Hat Pirates.
  • Fans speculate that Loki’s tragic past will lead to him becoming a heroic figure, possibly joining Luffy in the final battle.

Ever since the start of One Piece’s Elbaf arc, many important questions regarding the world have been raised as this promises to be one of the series’ most important arcs. Despite still being in its early stages, the arc has already made bombshell reveals, which include Scopper Gaban’s long-awaited debut, the reveal of Shanks’ evil twin, the inclusion of other Gods’ Knights, and the existence of the previous worlds.

One of the biggest aspects of this island is the entire situation of the Elbaf Royal Family. It is revealed that 6 years before the start of the main story, Loki rebelled against the forces of the Giants and, in doing so, ended up killing his father, King Harald. While the truth of this story is currently up in the air as of Chapter 1143 of One Piece, the question of who Elbaf’s next ruler will be does pop up, so let’s look at who can fit this role the best.

One of the greatest theories regarding Loki was just confirmed in Chapter 1143, so let’s see what this could have been!

A Look At The Primary Candidates

  • Loki’s innocence may have made him a prime candidate to become a ruler again.
  • Hajrudin is well-loved by all Giants, which could make him the next ruler.

The Royal Family of Elbaf is the most powerful family of Giants, seemingly in the entire world. At the start of the arc, it is revealed that the King at the time was a man named Harald, whom the Giants of Elbaf revered as the greatest monarch they’d ever had. These people are known around the world as dangerous savages who love war more than anything else, giving them a fearsome reputation as brutes who only seek to destroy in the eyes of the rest of the world.

Harald acted to change this, since he promoted trade and peaceful relations with their neighbors, all while encouraging his people to leave their violent past behind them. However, he was eventually killed by Loki, or it was at least made to appear so, since in Chapter 1143, Loki revealed that he did not actually kill his father in cold blood.

Don’t tell me you’re really like the rest, thinking I actually killed our father in cold blood. You don’t really buy it, do you?

Now, due to Harald’s death, the question of Elbaf’s next ruler arises. The two candidates here are Loki and Hajrudin, half-brothers born from different women that the king had courted. Under normal circumstances, Loki would undoubtedly have become the King of Elbaf, since the land has rules which state that the ruler can only be born from the direct line of Elbaf Royalty from both their mother and father’s side. This disqualifies Hajrudin since his mother was not born from the Royal Line.

However, the island is currently in a spin. With Harald dead and Loki a pariah, there is perhaps no other option available to the Giants than to make Hajrudin the King, considering he is a well-loved and enigmatic figure who inspires loyalty from all his companions, similar to Luffy. In fact, it is even his dream to become the King of the Giants and to unite all the Giant Tribes from around the world under a singular banner.

But, now, things are in a whirlwind with Chapter 1143’s reveal of Loki being innocent. By the end of the arc, the Giants will likely see that Loki was framed for the murder of King Harald, which means that he will probably be forgiven for his crimes, bringing him back to the forefront as the best candidate to become the King of Elbaf. However, despite this, many fans believe that Loki may just forego his role by giving it to Hajrudin.

The reason for this is purely speculation at this point, but most think that Loki may become the final member of the Straw Hat Pirates and will join them on the final leg of their journey. There are many questions that arise from a logistical standpoint, but if something like this does end up happening, it puts a neat little bow onto Elbaf as one of the heroes’ greatest allies going into the Final Saga, with Loki being a part of the crew and Hajrudin being the King of the Giants in his stead.

The Likelihood Of Loki Becoming A Hero

With the reveal of Loki not being the one to murder his father in Chapter 1143, fans are convinced of the theory that he will become a heroic figure towards the end of the arc, which was speculated upon ever since his first appearance. It’s now known that Loki is a tragic character with a lot of skewed information regarding his past, which is common with many of Luffy’s allies whom he ends up helping.

If Luffy were to join the Straw Hats in defeating the Gods’ Knights on Elbaf, it would be perhaps the shortest final fight in the series. This is because both he and Luffy have a version of the Nika fruit that gives them otherworldly abilities, even by the standards of Devil Fruits, so they would make short work of any enemies that stand in front of them if they unite their strengths.
