Nintendo Is Reportedly Putting On A Direct Later This Week

Nintendo Switch Has Finally Outsold The PS2 In The US

Summary

  • Nintendo is reportedly holding a Nintendo Direct later this week, ahead of the big Nintendo Switch Direct next month.
  • This is according to insider NateTheHate, who claims a “Nintendo presentation” is set to take place on or around this Thursday.
  • Unfortunately, we don’t know the format just yet, as this direct could be a smaller event like a Partner or Indie showcase.

It’s shaping up to be a pretty huge year for Nintendo, as many eagerly await the long-awaited Nintendo Switch 2 focused Direct which the company announced earlier this year. That’s finally set to take place on April 2 next week, but if a very reliable industry insider is to be believed, Nintendo might be gearing up for a smaller Direct later this week.

That’s according to NateTheHate, who recently claimed on Twitter that a “Nintendo presentation” is scheduled for this week, which he believes will be a Direct of some kind. He also claims that it will take place either on or around Thursday, so if a Direct is scheduled to take place later this week, we should get an announcement either tomorrow or Wednesday.

We Don’t Know What Kind Of Nintendo Direct It Will Be

Unfortunately, that’s where all the info stops, as NateTheHate says that he’s “not 100% certain on the format”. That means this potential Direct may not be a full-blown general Direct like the one in April, and could be something smaller like a Partner Showcase or an Indie Showcase. He does appear to be very confident something Nintendo is on the way though, and NateTheHate has proven very reliable over the past year or so.

I’m incredibly impressed with this long awaited port, but the original Switch holds it back.

A third-party Nintendo Direct feels the most likely, as it would be a good opportunity for third-party developers to show off the games coming to Switch 2. There’s also a high possibility that Nintendo could hold a general Direct for the games that are still coming to the original Nintendo Switch, and save the April 2 Direct for the big guns and exclusives.

There have been various updates to Hollow Knight: Silksong’s Steam page over the past few days, and we’re still waiting for those Twilight Princess and Wind Waker ports that are supposedly finished, so there is stuff we could see in a smaller Direct. Whatever it ends up being, these next two weeks are going to be pretty big for Nintendo fans, and absolutely disastrous for my wallet.
