Goto Ryuji Falls Prey To The Ant King

In the latest episode, it was confirmed that the Ant King had killed Goto Ryuji, the strongest Hunter from Japan. Goto Ryuji had sensed the enemy while it was still far away, which allowed him to block the first attack. The Hunter ordered his allies to escape quickly as their lives were in danger.

The Ant King asked Goto Ryuji if he was the king of humans, and the latter replied that he indeed was. Not long afterward, the Ant King attacked the Hunter again, and this time the strike bypassed Goto Ryuji’s defense, resulting in his death.

This was a major blow not just to the Hunters on the island, but also to the Japanese Hunter Association, who had been hoping to use Goto Ryuji’s strength to their advantage. This was evident from the conversation between Kanae Tawata and the person in charge of the mission.

The latter was not sad, but instead, he was disappointed that Goto Ryuji had gotten himself killed. The interaction proves that the Japanese Hunter Association did not care about the Hunters or their lives. They only wanted to humiliate Korea and show off Japan’s superiority. Unfortunately for them, they failed to accomplish their goal and even lost their biggest weapon.

Following Goto Ryuji’s death, many people believed that all the Hunters on Jeju Island would end up losing their lives. Considering the gap between their strength and that of Goto Ryuji, it was clear that they stood no chance against the Ant King. Luckily for them, Sung Jinwoo had already made preparations in case things went awry. He had planted his Shadows with the members of the raid party. A decision that proved invaluable as it allowed him to save the Korean Hunters from being slaughtered, and it enabled him to reach the island instantly.

Upon his arrival, Sung Jinwoo immediately tended to the injured Hunters and gave them healing potions, which worked on everyone except for Cha Hae-in. Even the Elixir of Life failed to help Cha Hae-in make a recovery. Before Sung Jinwoo could find another way to help Cha Hae-in, the Ant King returned to the colony. The Hunter realized that the enemy was no pushover and that he had to beat him before tending to Cha Hae-in.

The fight started with the Ant King punching Sung Jinwoo, but it was surprised when the Hunter was hardly affected by the move. Sung Jinwoo retaliated by striking the Ant King, causing the latter to be thrown off balance. As the fight progressed, it looked increasingly likely that the Hunter would win. However, the Ant King was able to temporarily shift the momentum in his favor by poisoning Sung Jinwoo.

The Hunter’s movement was affected by the poison, but it didn’t take long for the System to help him out. Once the poison had been dealt with, the Ant King decided to use its transformation. The form looked more menacing and gave the Ant King a new weapon—sharp claws. Sung Jinwoo realized that he could no longer fight with his hands, so he summoned the Demon King’s Dagger and increased the mutilation ability to the max. This allowed the Hunter to pierce the rigid exoskeleton and beat the Ant King. Following the latter’s defeat, the remaining ants left the Hunters alone and retreated.
