Every new patch in Final Fantasy 14 keeps the tradition of introducing new cosmetics to the game, often including new emotes for expressing whatever feelings the players might want to show others. But of course, they’ll always need to complete a few activities before freely using those new animations.

If you want to get your hands on the Patch 7.1 mounts in FFXIV, here’s what you need to know.
Patch 7.2 is no exception to this rule, but it has only introduced a few new emotes for players this time, focusing on improving aspects for older ones instead. But depending on how many of these you previously unlocked, you might have some extra work to do in this new update.
Every Emote In 7.2 And How To Get It
The newest update has introduced one brand-new emote, but also added alternative versions for two other existing ones. Here’s how you can obtain each of them.
Emote |
How To Obtain |
---|---|
Dazed |
Obtained as the Level 5 reward from the PvP Series Malmstones 8, available throughout the entire 7.2 patch. |
Study |
It can be purchased from Enie at The Firmament (X:12.0, Y:14.0) for 1800 Skybuilder Scrips, obtained from delivering items or from Fetês. It can be obtained as a reward from Fetês in The Firmament. This emote is also known as “Read”. It can be bought from the Market Board. |
Tomescroll |
Obtained as a reward for installing the official Final Fantasy XIV Companion mobile app and connecting your account. This emote is also known as “Tomestone”. |
Dazed
The only truly new emote added in the update. It puts your character in the dazed animation, often included in certain battles where your character is stunned for a few seconds. Now it lasts for as long as you want.
Fortunately, it doesn’t take you too long to reach Level 5 in the PvP Series. The daily Frontline Roulette gives you enough experience to get a whole level per match, so you can either slowly farm it with one match per day or complement it with some Crystalline Conflict matches to make it quicker. Winning always gives you more points, so give your all to get it faster.
All PvP emotes become unavailable after their debut, but will eventually become available for purchase with Trophy Crystals after a few major patches.
Study
The classical Read emote was given a looped version, making it easier for you to AFK at your favorite spot while enjoying some quality literature. Both Read and Study share the same animation, with only their length being different.
Skybuilder Scrips are obtained mainly through delivering items at The Firmament, which also happens to be one of the best ways to level up your Crafters up until Level 80. But if you’re not in the mood for crafting, participating in the Fetês happening in the Firmament every two days (with two hours of downtime between them) is also a valid way to get them, or even the emote itself.
Tomescroll
The final addition to this update is a looped version of the existing Tomestone emote. The Tomescroll lets you scroll your days away as you want, without a care in the world, making it another great option for idling on your favorite spot in the main cities.
The Companion app is available for Android and iOS, and lets you chat with your friends, organize your inventory, manage your retainers, and much more directly from your smartphone. You’ll also get that extra emote permanently as soon as you install it for the first time, so give it a try.
