Need some Wool for your next armor pieces? Time to find the cute and cuddly Bambuck.

Sure, you’ll likely have a ton of chests to store things in, but even still, your inventory will inevitably get filled up, and you’ll need to make yet another trip back to your base. If you want to expand your inventory and keep it organized without requiring a new backpack, several Pouches can help you out plenty.

What Are Pouches?

Player inventory showing four rows of Pouch inventory, each having different items in them, in Core Keeper.

Pouches are special items that add additional slots to your inventory that can only be filled by specific items, with four categories having their own set of Pouches:

  • Fish, which get gray-colored inventory slots.
  • Seeds and Plants, which get green-colored inventory slots.
  • Valuables, which get magenta-colored inventory slots.
  • Blocks and Ores, which get brown-colored inventory slots.

They need to be Quick Stashed from your inventory or hotbar like if you were equipping armor, and afterward, you’ll have either five, eight, or ten additional inventory slots, depending on the tier of Pouch.

You aren’t limited to using one category of Pouch each; you can have multiple of the same Pouch tier and category equipped, and the only limit is a maximum of four Pouches total.

Now, when obtaining anything fitting into those four categories, those items will automatically go into the Pouch slots first, and stay separate from your main inventory until the Pouch runs out of slots.

How To Craft Pouches

Player character buying the Pouch Workbench from the Bearded Merchant in Core Keeper.

Low and Mid-Tier Pouches can only be crafted at a Pouch Workbench, and to get one, you’ll need to defeat the first boss, Glurch the Abominous Mass. After it’s defeated, the Bearded Merchant will be released from their prison, and become available to purchase items from.

You can have NPCs such as the Bearded Merchant move into your home by placing their accompanying Furniture Item in a suitable room with at least a four-by-four-tile size and at least one bed.

Open their Shop Inventory, and they’ll already be selling the Pouch Workbench for 100 Ancient Coins, which can be obtained by selling any item in the game to them, except for blocks, breaking Wooden Crates, or opening Treasure Chests.

Place the Pouch Workbench anywhere, and you’ll have the recipes for Small Pouches and Medium Pouches already unlocked.
