The First Berserker: Khazan is a surprisingly dense and long experience, with many missions to explore and bosses to eliminate. And the further you proceed through the story, the more challenging and epic things will get, as expected from a title in the soulslike genre.

The First Berserker: Khazan – Traitor Revealed Walkthrough
Here’s how to make your way through Palemion City and complete the Traitor Revealed mission in The First Berserker: Khazan!
Veiled Knives is a perfect example of this, and it is a mission that holds no punches from the very start until you finally take down the incredibly difficult boss at its end. This mission is also very, very long, so lock in and get ready to fight your way through the terrors that await you in the quarry!
How To Complete Veiled Knives
At the mission’s start, a winding path will be in front of you; follow it all the way out until you reach a Blade Nexus. Activate it for your first checkpoint and speak with Tristan, who is standing nearby, before moving onward. He won’t say too much, but it’s better to be safe than sorry!
Making Progress
Follow the pathway from the Blade Nexus until you reach a large, wooden structure, and follow the ramps down until you run into an Undead Swordsman. Make quick work of them, don’t forget to hit them again before the soul returns to the body, and move forward to see an item on the edge of a wooden beam. Grab it for x3 Lightning Resistance Elixir.
Continue following the ramps down until you see a group of Undead begin running toward you. There will be a few Archers in the mix. Try to focus on them first, then finish off the others. With all the Undead taken care of, push a bit forward until you come across a ladder and take it down to the area below!
A Tough Encounter
From here, as you begin following the main path, a Renowned Spellblade’s Shadow will round the corner. This enemy is surprisingly challenging to deal with, as they can imbue their Rapier with Lightning while also casting various Lightning Spells that can be rough to deal with.
If you let the Lightning Status Effect build up, your Stamina Gauge will be sporadic, sometimes stalling out, making it impossible to move, attack, or use Skills. Be aggressive, Reflect its attacks, and Counter its Burst Attacks to best it in combat.
After defeating the Renowned Spellblade’s Shadow, walk slightly forward to see an Undead Summoner in the distance. Use your Javelin to pick them off, then throw another one at them to stop the soul from reviving it. From here, head to the corpse in the center of the area and Absorb it for Lacrima and a Soul Tearstone Shard!
Reaching The Camp Site
Stay on the main path and follow it until you reach an Undead Assassin. It will be invisible, but you will be able to see its footsteps as it approaches. Once it’s near you, it will reveal itself, allowing you to engage and defeat it. With the Assassin taken care of, continue until you see a Blade Nexus to the left. Activate it for your second checkpoint and the chance to take a breather!
Exploring The Quarry Camp Site
Head left from the Blade Nexus and follow the trail until you come across a few Undead in the distance by a tent. Use your Javelin to pick them off, then hit their bodies to prevent them from resurrecting. There will be an item near the tent; as you approach it, more Undead will come out of the ground. Eliminate them and scoop up the item for x2 Lightning Cleanse Potion!
The Graveyard
Continue following the trail until you reach a sizable graveyard. You will see a corpse on the left. Make your way to it and Absorb it for Lacrima and a Soul Tearstone Shard. Some Undead will come out of the ground as you begin doing this. Take care of them, only to have more appear from the staircase in front of you.
There will also be an Undead Summoner on the staircase. Target them first, or they will be resurrected, no matter what you do. With the Summoner taken care of, eliminate the other Undead in the area, then head back down to the graveyard, as there’s more exploring to do.
From where the corpse was, look directly across from it to see more tombstones and an Undead patrolling the area around them. Use your Javelin to pick them off, then make your way to where they were to trigger more Undead to come out of the ground. Eliminate them as well and loot the item for Concetrated Fire Essence.
Before moving on, there will be a wooden structure with a staircase leading up to it. Follow these steps to find a Chest on top of the wooden structure. Open it to obtain the Villager’s Greatsword, Cleric’s Gauntlet, Necklace of Commitment, and Chaos Clense Potion!
Activating The Shortcut
With the graveyard picked clean, head back to where the Undead Summoner was and follow the large staircase until you reach the sizable platform with an enormous bloodstain. To the left of the bloodstain will be a ladder. Kick this ladder down to create a shortcut that leads directly to the Blade Nexus.
Spend your Lacrima and rest up, then head back up the ladder and continue following the stairs up until you reach another ladder. Take this ladder up and walk slightly forward to see an Undead Assassin. Like before, wait for it to get close to you, having it reveal itself, then take it down!
Defeat The Elite Renowned Spellblade’s Shadow
Across the bridge from the Undeade Assassin will be an Elite Rewnowned Spellblade’s Shadow. And, yes, it’s as challenging as it sounds. Like the one from the beginning of the mission, it will deal Lightning Damage, but it will be substantially more problematic to deal with.
It has more health, deals more damage, and has more tricks up its sleeve. While you still have to be pretty aggressive to defeat it, you can’t be reckless. Whenever it attempts its Burst Attack, you must Counterattack it. Reflecting its attacks will also be crucial to your success.
Defeating the Elite Renowned Spellblade’s Shadow will grant you the Deep Shadow Helm, Devourer of Darkness Helm, Bard’s Wristguards, Concentrated Fire Essence, and Inner Essence. From here, climb the nearby ladder to continue onward!
Oh, Great… They’re Here
Climbing the ladder will lead you to a dirt pathway. As you follow it forward, you will notice many Spiders. Just when you thought things couldn’t get worse, they drop this on you. Proceed to move through the area until a Spider scurries in from the left from a small nook near the entrance of the Spider den.
Eliminate the Spider and check the nook to find a purple item. Pick it up for an Earth Enhancer, then continue until you run into more Spiders. There will be many small Spiders and some large ones in the mix, so be careful!
The Pot-Belly Spider
As you begin getting deeper into the Spider den, you will notice lots of Explosive Spiders rushing you. And this is thanks to the new Pot-Belly Spider. And it is very gross and very annoying. Essentially, this enormous Spider will continually pop out Explosive Spiders until it is defeated.
Your only option here is to rush it down and kill it. Guard the Explosive Spiders and run past everything else, focusing primarily on the Pot-Belly Spider. After you defeat it and the surrounding Spiders, loot the purple item nearby for a Lightning Enhancer.
From here, walk to the edge of the walkway where the Pot-Belly Spider was and drop down onto the wooden platform to break the first Mysterious Ore resting on it!
Exploring The Spider Den
Walk a bit forward from where the Pot-Belly Spider was and take a hard right to find a cave sealed off with a thick layer of webs. Use your weapon to cut down the webs and enter the cave. A wave of Explosive Spiders will rush you. Guard to avoid taking damage and push further inside. An orange item will be in the far back of the cave. Pick it up to obtain the Man-Eating Spider’s Scroll and an Augment of Wisdom.
Following this, continue on the main pathway until you reach a ladder and take it down onto a large wooden walkway. To the right will be another ladder. Make your way over to it and kick it down to create another shortcut that leads to the Blade Nexus!
Fighting The Undead
Take the shortcut back up and follow the path until you see a barricade blocking a pathway. Break through the barricade and follow the path until you’re behind an Undead Archer and a purple item. Throw your Javelin at the Archer, finish them off, and loot the item for a Fire Spirit’s Fuel.
Two Undead will be beneath you. Drop down with a plunging attack on one of them, then begin fighting the other. More Undead will likely see you from the lower area to the right, having them join the fight. After eliminating all the Undead, head to the right and down the stairs for x16 Transmutation Shard.
Return to where you dropped down and head toward the tower. However, instead of climbing it, go to the left to run into another Undead Assassin. Defeat the Assassin and continue following this path to find an item at the edge of a cliffside. Pick it up for a Water Cleanse Potion!
Scaling The Tower
Begin scaling the tower by taking the many stairs up. But just before the final set of stairs, stop on the platform and look to the left. You will be able to see the top of the Undead Summoner’s head, allowing you to snipe it with a well-placed Javelin throw. After hitting the Summoner, sprint up the stairs and hit its body before it resurrects.
There will be another Undead up here; eliminate it, then take the ladder up. Once here, two more Undead will emerge from the cave in front of you. Make quick work of them and push into the cave they came from to discover a lift. Take the lift up to reach a new Blade Nexus!
Navigating The Cave
From the Blade Nexus, follow the path until you see a winding ramp with massive boulders rolling down it, crashing into the wall in front of you. To the right will be an open area. Wait for a boulder to pass you, then make a break into the area to find an Undead Assassin roaming around.
Defeat the Assassin to have more Undead appear, and take them out. There will be an Undead Summoner on the cliffside above you, where the boulders are rolling down. Use your Javelin to defeat it. You must hit its body with a second Javelin to prevent it from resurrecting. Follow the path until you see an item on top of a rock and grab the Chaos Disruption Parchment and x2 Chaos Cleanse Potion!
Evading The Boulders
Next, head toward the ramp where the boulders are speeding down, wait for one to pass you, and then make a break up the ramp. There will be small openings on the right side of the ramp for you to dip into to avoid incoming boulders. There will also be a handful of Undead on your way up, so be mindful of them.
Wait for a boulder to pass, sprint to the next nook, and rinse and repeat until you are at the top of the ramp. From here, walk through the doorway to find a lever. Pull the lever to stop the boulders from falling onto the ramp, making future visits less stressful!
Shortcut And Hidden Chest
Slightly ahead of the lever will be a red light emitting from the ground. Use your Javelin to hit the worm hiding underneath the ground, killing it in one hit. Directly to the right of the worm will be a door. Open it and look up to see a Chest resting on the cliffside above you.
Drop down to the area below until you are at the Blade Nexus. Turn around, enter the lift you activated earlier, and look to your left. On this wall will be an open entrance you can drop into after you activate the lift. So, take the lift back up and run to the wall. The moment you see the opening appear, step off the lift and onto the cliffside.
Open the Chest to obtain the Lost Mage’s Greatsword, Defector’s Ring, Necklace of Wisdom, and Fire Enhancer. You can now drop off the cliff and continue following the main path!
They’re Back
As you proceed up the pathway, you will begin seeing Spiders, with several Exploding Spiders appearing. Deal with them and push forward until you see a path that branches to the right. Take this path to find a large Spider resting at the top and make quick work of it!
Defeat The Pot-Belly Spider
Directly across from the large Spider in the distance will be another Pot-Bell Spider, which explains the many Explosive Spiders you fought earlier. A Javelin won’t do much to it, so you must rush at it and take it down again. However, this time, there are A LOT more Spiders. So be prepared.
Focus on the Pot-Belly Spider, defeat it, then immediately sprint back to the entrance. There will be dozens of Spiders chasing you down. Pick some off with your Javelin once you are a decent distance apart, then finish the rest of them off. There will be so many here, so it may take a while!
Exploring The Cave
With all the Spiders defeated, you can freely explore the cave. Begin making your way back toward where the Pot-Belly Spider was and look to the right to see a purple item. Loot it to obtain a Poison Enhancer. From here, head up to where the lever is and turn left to see an area you can drop down into.
There will be an Undead Assassin down here, so be prepared to fight. Once you defeat the Assassin, continue forward until you reach a corpse sitting against a stone formation. Absorb it for lots of Lacrima and a Soul Tearstone Shard, then make your way back onto the central pathway!
Reaching The Citadel
Return to where the Pot-Belly Spider was and pull the lever. Wait for the lift to come down, then take it back to the top. Elamein will be here, so speak with her before proceeding. After speaking with her, continue into the Bandit’s Citadel to find another Blade Nexus!
The Bandit’s Citadel
From the Blade Nexus, turn left and take the winding staircase up to a rooftop where Bandits and a Wild Dog will be waiting for you. Defeat them, then go down the stairs and inside the building, where even more Bandits and Wild Dogs are. Quickly eliminate them and look to the right to find a Mysterious Ore. A door will be nearby that you can open, leading you back to the Blade Nexus!
Moving Onward
Rest at the Blade Nexus and then head to the right, where you will encounter a Bandit and a Wild Dog. If the Bandit rings the bell, more will be alerted, so try taking them out with a Javelin. If they’re successful in ringing it, prepare for Archers, more Wild Dogs, and many more Bandits to appear.
After defeating all the Bandits, walk behind the wall with the bell to find a purple item. Loot it for a Poison Spirit’s Fuel, then head to the right and enter the building. There will be an Archer on the wall directly in front of you. Use your Javelin to pick them off, then make your way up to where they were. There will be an item across from them. Grab it for x3 Vitality Sphere!
Brief Exploration
Before heading up the ladder, there will be a large hole in the wall near the staircase. Head there and look down to see an underground area with several Wild Dogs.
Drop down into the area and defeat the Dogs, then look for the Chest in the back corner of the room. Open the Chest to obtain the Reforged Dual Wield, Cleric’s Trousers, Necklace of Life, and Concentrated Fire Essence. From here, follow the pathway to a door to return to the central area!
Climbing Up
Climb the ladder and begin crossing the bridge to run into several Bandits. Quickly eliminate the ones rushing you first, then focus on the Archers, as they can deal substantial damage to you with their Flame Arrows. After eliminating them, follow the path ahead until you reach a dropoff. Once here, drop down into the area below!
Defeat The Knivesveil Destroyer
Before heading up the stairs, go to the right side of them to see a barricade blocking a doorway. Smash through the barricade to find a Knivesveil Destroyer and a couple of Wild Dogs. Focus on the Wild Dogs first, then begin working on the Destroyer. This enemy will have A LOT of health, so be patient. With the Destroyer taken care of, walk to the back of the room and break the Mysterious Ore!
Another Shortcut
From here, make your way up the stairs to find even more Wild Dogs and Bandits. After defeating them, walk around the right side of the platform and continue following the path until you have to drop down into the area below. A large door will be a bit forward and to the left; open it to create another shortcut to the Blade Nexus!
The Final Mysterious Ore
Before you do anything else, there will be an enormous stone staircase to the left of the shortcut that leads to a door you cannot open yet. However, the last Mysterious Ore is also up there; you should take care of it now. To do this, run to the top of the stairs and turn left to see it resting atop a wall. Use your Javelin to snipe it. And that’s it! You now smashed all Mysterious Ores in the mission!
The Final Stretch
From the shortcut door you just opened, head down the stairs and take a right to find a doorway illuminated by torches. Head inside to see several Wild Dogs and Bandits. Eliminate all the enemies inside, then Absorb the corpse on the floor to obtain a hefty sum of Lacrima and a Soul Tearstone Shard!
Keep Going
Continue forward until a Bandit bursts through a door on your right, having more Bandits ambush you in the process. Defeat these Bandits, then focus on the Flame Archer in the distance. After eliminating the Flame Archer, enter the room directly to their right and head up the stairs. A purple item will be at the end of the walkway; loot it for a Poison Enhancer!
Another Destroyer
Stay on the main path until you come across another Knivesveil Destroyer. This encounter will be handled the exact same way as earlier, except there are no Wild Dogs this time, so it should be slightly easier. After you deal with the Destroyer, continue forward until you see two Archers in the distance.
Take the Archers out with your Javelin, then head over to where they were. To the right will be a ladder you can kick down, creating another shortcut that allows you to access this area without having to go through the rigmarole if you die or want to rest at the Blade Nexus!
Dropping In
After kicking down the shortcut, turn to the left and look down into the courtyard to see several Bandits and Wild Dogs roaming around. Drop down to find a sleeping Bandit underneath the overhang and swiftly take them out. From here, you can use your Javelin to pick off a few Bandits, then finish off the rest. A corpse will be to the left beside the spike pit. Absorb it for even more Lacrima and a Soul Tearstone Shard!
Out Of The Rain
From here, head toward the doorway to have a Wild Dog jump out and begin charging you. Eliminate the Dog, then push inside. Once inside, turn left and walk forward to see more Bandits and Wild Dogs. As you begin attacking them, even more Wild Dogs will appear, so be cautious of that. After defeating them, you’re free to explore this area!
Exploring The Area
With all the baddies eliminated, walk forward until you see a closed door on the right. Open it to be greeted by two Bandits. Eliminate them and loot the item in the room to obtain a Letter From a Spy. Next, there will be another closed door directly across from this room. Open it to find a lone Chest in the room.
Open the Chest to find it is rigged with explosives and run away from it to avoid taking damage. After it explodes, loot the item on the ground to obtain the Pilgrim’s Dual Wield and x25 Treated Blade. From here, head into the back left corner of the area, behind the wagon, to get a Chaos Cleanse Potion!
Evading More Boulders
Head back to the central area of the building, then go into the right section to find more Bandits and Wild Dogs. Eliminate all of them in the area, then proceed outside. You will see another steep ramp with enormous boulders rolling down it at tremendous speed, crashing into the wall and exploding on contact.
Stand just to the side of the ramp and wait for the boulder to roll past you. The moment it does, sprint up the ramp and into the room straight ahead. There will be several Bandits and Wild Dogs inside, so be ready. After defeating them, wait for the boulder to roll past you again, then run out and grab the x2 Lightning Resist Elixir and x3 Stone, then run back inside.
Wait for another boulder to pass, then sprint the entire way up the ramp and head to the left to find a ladder. Kick it down to create another shortcut, then turn around and head over to the lever. Pull the lever to stop the boulders from falling onto the ramp, allowing you to traverse that area safely!
Defeat The Elite Outlaw
In the large room near the lever will be an Elite Outlaw resting with a pair of Wild Dogs, which means you must prepare for an intense encounter. Focus on the Wild Dogs first, then commit to taking down the Elite Outlaw. Being aggressive seems to work well for this encounter, so long as you aren’t making too many mistakes.
Wait for the Elite Outlaw to perform its Burst Attack and execute your Counterattack to deal substantial damage, further chipping away at its Stamina Gauge with perfectly-timed Reflections. Use your Skills often and be patient to get the best of this formidable opponent.
Defeating the Elite Outlaw will grant you the Devourer of Darkness Helm, Deep Shadow Pauldrons, Bard’s Pants, Poison Cleanse Potion, and Inner Essence. There will also be a small room in this area with an open door. Head inside to obtain x2 Willpower Orb!
Ambush City
From the Elite Outlaw, follow the main path until you reach an area with a narrow street and a Bandit in the distance. He will ring the bell the moment he spots you, so try taking him down with your Javelin. If he rings it, get ready for hoards of Bandits to ambush you, including a Knivesveil Destroyer.
Flame Archers will also be in the distance atop the wall, so it will get hectic quickly if this happens. If you manage to get the Bandit in time, you can head to the right and pass underneath some cover, bypassing most enemies, allowing you to sneak into the next area. If not, you must fight your way through, which will be extremely challenging!
Nearing The End
Proceed onward until you reach a narrow walkway with an Archer at the end of it. As you approach them, another Bandit will burst through the door on the right for an ambush. Eliminate the Bandits in the area and head inside the room the Bandit smashed out of to find a Chest. Open it to obtain the Imperial Soldier’s Spear, Wanderer’s Shoes, Slayer’s Ring, and Fire Enhancer.
Continue a bit forward until you see many sleeping Wild Dogs and Bandits. As you get closer, even more Wild Dogs and Bandits will ambush you, creating pure chaos. After defeating everything in the area, look to the right of the stairs to find a purple item. Loot it to obtain a Fire Enhancer!
Calm Before The Storm
Head up the stairs and follow the pathway until you finally reach another Blade Nexus. Activate it and spend your hefty sum of Lacrima. Before fighting the boss of this mission, open the door behind the Blade Nexus, which will lead to the large stone staircase from earlier, allowing you to revisit other areas if you missed anything!
Defeat Maluca
Lastly, your final objective is to defeat Maluca, which is far easier said than done. This may very well be the most challenging encounter in the game, but it is undoubtedly the hardest one thus far in your journey. He has two phases, with the second phase being a combination of really sick and extremely frustrating.
If you find yourself dying to Maluca over and over again, which is very fair, then look no further than our complete guide on how to defeat him. This encounter is excruciatingly challenging, even with proper strategy, so don’t beat yourself up if he’s giving you trouble!
