Volbaino, a beast who was once the guardian of the village of Phraugh, began to lose control after the dragonkin invaded his home. How To Avoid

Phase 1

Two-Hit Hammer Slam

Volbaino Attack Overview In The First Berserker Khazan 2

Volbaino uses his hammer to slam the player twice. After losing a lot of health, he can follow up with a spinning slam. The first two slams are easy to guard, but the spinning slam is delayed, so you must time your Brink Guard or dodge it to avoid taking damage.

Chisel Strike

The boss embeds the chisel in the ground near the player and slams his hammer on it. Guarding is the best option for both attacks.

Hammer and Chisel Slam

Volbaino performs a horizontal strike, followed by alternating slams with both weapons before finishing with a delayed double slam. Brink Guarding the double slam allows you to land a swift combo.

Descending Slam

The boss runs toward the ladder and jumps to the second floor. He then screams before leaping down and slamming both weapons. The Brink Guard timing isn’t too difficult, but dodging is recommended if you struggle to time it correctly, as it deals significant damage.

Alternating 8-Hit Combo

Volbaino starts the attack with a horizontal strike, then alternates between both weapons, slamming the player six times before performing a Burst Attack. The timing between each slam is consistent, allowing you to adjust your guards accordingly. Finish by counterattacking the Burst Attack to deal damage to the boss.

Echoing Strike

The boss smashes his hammer and chisel together, creating a bell-like sound and dealing damage. He performs this twice during the fight, but if you dodge away from the first strike, he may cancel the attack and charge at you with a different move.

Horizontal Strikes

Volbaino alternates between his hammer and chisel to perform horizontal attacks. The timing on these strikes can be tricky, so you’ll need practice to successfully Brink Guard them.

Ignition Strike

The boss licks his chisel before embedding it in the ground, then strikes it, igniting the entire area and inflicting the flame status effect. As soon as you see the chisel being embedded, run to the ladder and climb to the second floor.

Chisel Slam

Players who pre-ordered the Standard or Deluxe Edition of The First Berserker: Khazan can claim exclusive in-game items. Here’s how to do it.

How To Beat Volbaino In The First Berserker: Khazan

Volbaino is the fourth main story boss, and compared to Viper, this fight will feel much easier for most players. The boss begins by slamming his hammer multiple times and can also use the Chisel Strike. Both of these attacks are relatively easy to guard once you get the timing down.

The main attack to watch for in the first phase is the alternating weapon strikes, which end with a powerful dual slam. This slam deals significant damage, but a well-timed Brink Guard staggers the boss for a few seconds, allowing you to land a full swift combo before preparing to guard again.

As the fight progresses, the chisel in Volbaino’s hand will start accumulating fire. To extinguish the flames, you must Brink Guard all chisel attacks.

Failing to guard against his blazing chisel attacks will deal damage and increase your flame meter.

During the Ignition Strike attack, immediately move to the second floor to avoid getting burned. If your flame meter fills up, you can use Fire Cleanse Potions, which you may have acquired during this mission. They can also be purchased from the Bard near the Forgotten Temple Entrance in Embars Temple for 3,000 Gold. To find him, fast travel to the Blade Nexus, head up the stairs, turn right through the gate, and drop down where you hear music playing.

On the second floor, if Volbaino’s chisel is ignited, he will repeatedly attempt to embed it into the ground. This causes small areas to catch fire, making it difficult to fight there.

Whenever the boss slams the chisel down, he takes a while to pull it out, giving you a window to deal significant damage. However, be sure to back away just before he retrieves it to avoid getting hit.
