Trying to get to your enemies as a melee fighter in Baldur’s Gate 3 can be a bit of a hassle, leaving you to feel like you’ve wasted your turn while you either get sniped or your spellcasters wipe out the battlefield (if you even have them). Thankfully, jumping can help you to get a little bit further and over difficult terrain if needed.

However… if you can just skip the entire battlefield with one giant jump, then you haven’t wasted any of your turn. You do need a specific build, but it’s totally viable to have an absurdly long jump distance in Baldur’s Gate 3.
The Furthest Possible Distance To Jump Is Around 180 Feet
If you want to jump to this distance, you’re going to need to be a Barbarian with the Wildheart subclass. The calculations are a little bit fiddly because assumptions are being made about when the Athlete Feat applies (e.g. before you rage), but in general, you can get an absurdly high jump distance with the right combination.
You need to have a Strength stat of 20, which will take you up to a 30-foot jump distance. Add in the Athlete Feat and your jump distance increases by half, boosting that number up to 45 feet.
If you’re a Wildheart Barbarian and take the Tiger Heart as your bestial nature (or you make your life easier and just give it to Karlach) then that gives an extra 15 feet while you rage, taking the total to 60 feet. To get into the triple digits, however, you’ll need to add in a Potion of Glorious Vaulting
or use the Jump
Spell, which triples your jump distance, taking you from 60 feet to an absolutely astounding 180 feet.
How Does Strength Work With Jumping?
Everyone starts out with a base jumping distance of 15 feet. For every two points above 10 in your Strength Stat, you gain an extra three feet. So, 12 Strength gives you 18 feet, 14 Strength gives you 21 feet, 16 gives you 24, 18 gives you 27, and a 20 Strength gives you an even 30 feet of jump distance.
Where To Get A Potion Of Glorious Vaulting
If you’re looking to go the potion route because you don’t have access to the spell or potions are just easier for you, you can opt to make it or buy it from a merchant. It is a random drop from enemies as well, but that’s a lot harder to guarantee you’ll get.
If you’re going to craft the Potion of Glorious Vaulting, you will need a Sublimate of Wispweed and any ashes. Otherwise, it’s just recommended that you check in with the different merchants in each region until one happens to offer the Potion of Glorious Vaulting.
