At the same time, developers have a lot of creative freedom in telling these stories.
The franchise has seen massive success with titles like Insomniac’s Spider-Man series and PvP hero shooter Marvel Rivals, so many fans are looking forward to seeing what’s next. A number of talented developers and studios have taken up the challenge of bringing various Marvel heroes to life through compelling storytelling and gameplay. It’s just a matter of pinning down the release dates for some of the most-anticipated superhero games on the scene today.

Insomniac’s upcoming Wolverine game could make strides in an effort to establish an X-Men game sooner, but that hopefully wouldn’t take away from him.
Known Details About Marvel Games in Development in 2025
Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra
Developed by Skydance New Media, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is an upcoming action-adventure title that follows Captain America and Black Panther Azzuri as they prevent the rise of the terrorist organization, Hydra. Apart from the two main protagonists, Gabriel Jones, a Howling Commandos member, and Nanali, the leader of the Wakandan Spy Network, will also be playable. Meanwhile, the individual villains in Marvel 1943 are still unknown, but the likes of Red Skull and Arnim Zola instantly come to mind.
It’s been reported that Marvel 1943 will launch in late 2025, possibly around the holiday season. It’s definitely a perfect time to release a Captain America-based game sometime this year, especially with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) putting the focus on Sam Wilson as the new Cap and his subsequent adventures.
Black Panther
Cliffhanger Games is currently developing a standalone Black Panther game under EA, which will reportedly be an open-world adventure that may utilize African martial arts in its combat. One interesting rumor is that players allegedly have the power to choose the next Black Panther, which includes the likes of Shuri and Erik Killmonger as possible options. This would mean that the game might have a choose-your-own-adventure style of story.
- Rumored Black Panther options: T’Challa, Shuri, Erik Killmonger, M’Baku, and Azari
Official details about EA’s Black Panther game are still under wraps. Given that it’s still in active development, it’s possible that it might come out in the next year or so, but nothing is for certain.
Iron Man
EA is also working with Motive Studio to develop an Iron Man game. Perhaps one of the most recognizable Marvel heroes, largely thanks to Robert Downey Jr.’s portrayal in the MCU, the upcoming standalone game has some big shoes to fill. Many fans also expect a lot since Motive is the studio behind the Dead Space remake, which would hopefully mean that the Iron Man game would have strong flying mechanics.
Marvel’s Wolverine
Following the success of the Spider-Man games, Insomniac is currently developing Marvel’s Wolverine for the PlayStation 5. The game’s story and gameplay are still mysteries, but it’s likely to be violent; Wolverine/Logan is a particularly deadly mutant thanks to adamantium claws and regenerative powers.
Marvel’s Wolverine doesn’t have an official release date yet, but it’s likely that Insomniac is taking its time to refine every detail in the game. The Spider-Man titles set a precedent for what Insomniac is able to deliver, and Wolverine could be a good place to start for the studio’s next open-world title. For instance, Wolverine could lead to a subsequent X-Men video game.
Marvel’s Blade
Said to be a third-person action-adventure game, Marvel’s Blade follows the titular character as he fights through hordes of evil vampires in Paris. Developer Arkane Lyon, known for its work on Dishonored and Deathloop, has taken the lead in making Blade memorable with a rumored morality system, among other features.
Fans have already caught a first glimpse of Marvel’s Blade during The Game Awards 2023. It has yet to release another trailer, and many are expecting to see an update sometime this year. However, the Arkane Lyon title still doesn’t have a release date, and it’s unknown how far along it is in development, so fans might have to wait.
