There are some households that we all know and love. This includes families like the Landgraabs and Goths, who have appeared in other games within the franchise. One family that you will come across is the Pancakes, made up of Bob and Eliza, but just who are these Sims? Here, we’ll go over all there is to know about this family.

The Pancake Family Introduction
On August 5, 2014, The Sims 4 posted a trailer on YouTube titled “The Sims 4: Stay Weirder – Weirder Stories Official Trailer”. Here, we learn a little bit more about the Pancakes family. Some interesting tidbits include Bob’s coffee drinking habits, his love of daytime television, and his ability to easily give up.
The narrator calls Bob the most ‘least-interesting Sim in the world’. In the video, we see Bob doing his typical boring things, while Eliza nags at him pretty much the entire time. From this, we get a real sense of the couple, and their traits start to make a little more sense.
Bob & Eliza’s Marriage
If you glance at the traits listed earlier, you may notice that Bob and Eliza don’t look too compatible. In the household description of the Pancake family, we also get a look into their relationship, with the following text.
Poor, poor Bob and Eliza – have they ever been happy? It seems there’s nothing one can do to please the other. Just what is keeping this couple together? Or conversely, what is the spark that will finally drive them apart?
From this, we learn that they aren’t happily married, though they still remain together. Interestingly, the pair seem to just stay together if you don’t play the household. In our game, Bob and Eliza had a few children and then eventually died, with their children having a lot more babies.
The Gallery Pancakes Family
There is an alternative version of the Pancakes family that you can find in the gallery, officially created by Maxis. Here, their description is as follows.
Is that a Silver Dollar Pancake? Nope, it’s just the newest little addition to bob & Eliza’s pancake stack! Meet their son Iggy, a charming toddler who’s bringing a small measure of harmony to the Pancakes’ household.
This description implies that the strain on Bob and Eliza lessened a little once Iggy was born. In fact, if you look at Pique Hearth, you can see three bedrooms, with one of them being set up for a baby that isn’t there yet.
The Pancakes Family In Other Games
Bob and Eliza Pancakes are originally from The Sims 4, but it’s speculated that they are based on the Newbie family, who appeared in the first game of the franchise. The Newbies consisted of Bob and Betty, with Betty being a shortened version of Elizabeth (like the name ‘Eliza’).
Bob and Betty Newbie also seem to have similar traits, as both Bobs are Slobs. Betty and Eliza, on the other hand, are both materialistic (with Betty’s aspiration in The Sims 2 being Fortune).
Other than that, this is all we know about the Pancakes family. Overall, they seem to be an unhappy couple that eventually rekindles the spark after Eliza gives birth to Iggy. From there, the rest of their story is up to you.
