The first time you enter St. Katharine’s Church in Atomfall‘s Wyndham Village, it quickly becomes apparent that not all is as it seems even when you take the strangeness of the Quarantine Protocol into account. Murder, blackmail, and a mysterious locked door are all hidden for you to unravel within the walls of the old church.

While much of the church’s storyline can be resolved in and around the village, you won’t be able to do anything about the locked door until you’ve made at least a decent foray into the Interchange. It’s dangerous, but your bravery will be rewarded.
How To Get The Church Cellar Key
Before you can get the Church Cellar Key, you’ll need to have found at least one Atom Battery outside the Interchange. The easiest way to get one near the village is to trade for one from Molly, who makes camp just west of the Slatten Dale exit.
Technically, you need two Batteries, but once you’re inside the Interchange a body in Central Processing has one, which is essentially a freebie.
Once you’ve restored power to Central Processing, drink a Strange Tonic (you can get the recipe in the same place as Mother Jago’s Book) and climb down into Data Store A to insert the second battery; this will activate the ventilation and, more importantly for the purposes of getting the key, lift the lockdown on the Medical Section.
Inside Medical
Make your way to Medical, being careful of spores, Ferals, and Outlaws. Once you’re inside, go down the hallway to the right, past the pneumatic storage tube, then take the first right. In the dead-end hallway, you’ll find the key on the floor, along with an audio log from Dr. Fisher.
Explore the rest of the Medical Facility at your peril – the Thralls here are extremely strong and take a lot of damage before dying, so it may be worth coming back once you have Holder’s Inoculation (see below).

These tips can help you put together a post-apocalyptic campaign in D&D.
What’s In The Church Basement?
Return to Wyndham Village. If you haven’t already, it’s a good idea to open the Interchange entrance behind the pub so that you can get back and forth quickly as needed. Opening the locked door under the church will reveal Dr. Holder’s secret lab.
Talk to Dr. Holder and he’ll give you more information about Oberon, and ask you to retrieve Sample One from Medical. Most importantly, he’ll let you take two Training Stimulants and the Experimental Inoculation from the workbench next to him.
The Inoculation gives you a permanent buff to Infection Resistance, which stacks with the Strange Tonic. It’s not total immunity, and you’ll still take damage from spore clouds and attacks from Ferals and Thralls, but you’re much less likely to have to worry about becoming properly infected from here on out.
