Summary

  • Fans praise Jenna Ortega’s portrayal of Wednesday Addams in Netflix’s Wednesday season 1.
  • Ortega’s performance in Scream movies as Tara Carpenter could influence her character in Wednesday season 2.
  • Fans hope for a slasher movie-inspired episode in Wednesday season 2 with a unique take on the genre.

Before Wednesday season 1 premiered on Netflix in the fall of 2022, I enjoyed following Jenna Ortega’s acting career which includes the 2023 crime thriller Finestkind, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, and a few great horror movies. I agree with fans and critics that this sarcastic, bleak, and quick-witted teenage version of Wednesday Addams is already the hallmark of her career. I can’t wait to what the Nevermore Academy student gets up to next and think Wednesday season 3 should definitely happen.

Since Ortega has played so many strong-willed and engaging characters, I’m interested to see how she developed her character even more in the second season of Wednesday I’m wondering if another one of Ortega’s most memorable characters could inform her Wednesday season 2 performance and think it could be fascinating.

With so many familiar faces in Scream 7’s large cast, it seems possible for any past Ghostface to come back, including Richie Kirsch.

I Want Wednesday Season 2 To Be Inspired By Jenna Ortega’s Scream Character Tara CarpenterTara Carpenter (Jenna Ortega) looking at her phone in Scream (2022)

I think it would be cool if Jenna Ortega’s beloved Scream (2022) and Scream 6 character Tara Carpenter informed her performance as Wednesday Addams in Wednesday season 2. Since both characters are strong, tough, and ready to protect the people they care about while fighting their enemies, Tara and Wednesday have a lot in common.

Although Tara didn’t become the main character in Scream 6, which I would have enjoyed seeing, she played an active role in the hunt for Ghostface. Wednesday is now looking for her stalker, and she should be as perceptive, confident, and prepared as Tara is. Wednesday should also continue to trust her instincts and not listen to what other people tell her. Even though Tara’s older sister Sam Carpenter (Melissa Barrera) wishes she would listen and wants to protect her, Tara knows she can handle anything on her own. Wednesday should capture Tara’s rebellious spirit when she sneaks around Nevermore Academy searching for clues about her stalker.

Since Ortega mentioned that a Wednesday season 2 episode will be “based off of slashers,” I would like to see Wednesday quoting slasher movies like Halloween and I Know What You Did Last Summer. Since Wednesday has a sarcastic, biting sense of humor, I think she would have a unique, interesting approach to the genre. Maybe she would pretend that she dislikes horror films but, in secret, she and Enid Sinclair (Emma Myers) could watch some and enjoy them. That would add some lightness to the season, which sounds like it will be fairly dark. Tara has hilarious quotes such as “I still prefer The Babadook,” which she says because she’s a big fan of elevated horror movies like the dark 2014 movie about a children’s book monster coming to life.

Since Tara famously battles Ghostface in the Scream (2022) opening sequence, I think it would be compelling if Wednesday and her stalker had a big fight scene. If she realizes she already knows her stalker, that would be even more shocking. Other people underestimate both Tara and Wednesday because of their age, but they’re both tough enough to stand up to anyone.

What Did Jenna Ortega Say About Appearing In The Scream Franchise?

Ghostface attacking Tara Carpenter (Jenna Ortega) in Scream (2022)

Jenna Ortega has discussed her portrayal of horror movie fan Tara Carpenter in many interviews. In an interview with Elle Magazine, the actress talked about the different way she portrayed Tara in the fifth and sixth movies. She said:

“In the last one, I was screaming and crying the entire time. This time, I actually had to create a personality for her.”

While Ortega shines in the opening sequence of Scream (2022) when she fights Ghostface, she lies in a hospital bed for the rest of the film. However, as she mentioned, Tara has more to do in the sixth movie as she and her friends fight Ghostface in New York City.

Ortega’s presence in Scream (2022) and Scream 6 is so special and memorable because she stands out against the beloved actors who have been there since the beginning. Hopefully the high school characters in Scream 7 are as engaging as Tara is. In an interview with Nylon Magazine, Ortega also talked about acting alongside the iconic cast of Scream such as Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette. She said:

“I remember seeing Neve, Courteney, and David together for the first time, and I think I said three words the entire time because I didn’t want to look like a fool. I was really intimidated. It made it feel like it was Scream, you know? They are the franchise.”
