Summary

  • Dudunsparce ex lacks impact without ex Pokemon, but offers consistent damage with Drill Beak.
  • Lillie’s Clefairy ex shines against Dragon-type cards with Full Moon Rondo’s bench-based attack potential.
  • Volcanion ex provides steady damage and energy distribution, while wearing down opponents with Burned effect.

The main theme of Pokemon TCG’s Battle Partners expansion revolves around Trainers and their Pokemon. Iconic Trainers like N, Lillie, Hop, and Iono are featured alongside their trusty Pokemon. This Japanese set consists of 132 cards, including eight ex cards. While that’s not a massive number, not all ex cards are created equal.

Want to know the best abilities in Battle Partners? Find out here!

In this list, we’ve ranked all the ex cards for you—if you’re curious about which ones pack the most power and usefulness, let’s dive in! You’ll want to see which ones are worth your time and which might leave you shocked—we’re looking at you, Iono!

Dudunsparce ex

A Big Tail… But Is It A Big Deal?

Dudunsparce ex from Battle Partners in Pokemon TCG.

Adversarial Tail (60x)

Drill Beak (150)

This attack does 60 damage for each of your opponent’s Pokemon ex in play.

This attack’s damage isn’t affected by any effects on your opponent’s Active Pokemon.

Dudunsparce ex isn’t exactly a jaw-dropping evolution—Dunsparce just got… longer. And as a Colorless Pokemon, it fits in any deck! Adversarial Tail is a cheap attack that deals 60 damage per ex Pokemon on your opponent’s side. The catch? If they have no ex Pokemon, it does nothing. Play this too early, and your opponent might just dodge it entirely.

Drill Beak, on the other hand, isn’t as strong as some ex attacks, but at least it doesn’t need a recharge turn and always deals consistent damage. Let’s be real—you can probably find a better ex, but if you just love long bois, Dudunsparce is… fine?

7

Lillie’s Cleafairy ex

Full Bench, Full Force!

Lillie's Clefairy ex 126 (Special Art Rare) Card From The Japanese Pokemon TCG Set Battle Partners.

Ability: Fairy Zone

Full Moon Rondo (20+)

The Weakness of each of your opponent’s Dragon Pokemon in play is now Psychic. (Apply Weakness as ×2.)

This attack does 20 more damage for each Benched Pokemon. (both yours and your opponent’s).

Lillie’s Clefairy ex might not look super functional at first glance. Unlike other ex Pokemon with flashy abilities, this one requires a more specific situation. If your opponent is using Dragon-type cards, its ability becomes handy, but otherwise, it’s pretty useless. Clefairy has a single attack that deals 20 damage, but it hits an extra 20 for each Pokemon on the bench.

With the return of Trainer’s Pokemon, fans can now collect new cards with both their favorite Trainers and Pokemon in one.

If your bench is full, you’re looking at 120 damage for a bargain! And if your opponent’s bench is full too, the damage goes up to 220. Of course, your opponent will try not to fill their bench after seeing this, but it’s a solid attack that’s both cheap and effective for keeping them on their toes!

6

Volcanion ex

A Little Heat, A Lot Of Pain!

Volcanion ex from Battle Partners in Pokemon TCG.

Ability: Scorching Steam

Heat Cyclone (160)

Once during your turn, if this Pokemon is in the Active Spot, you may make your opponent’s Active Pokemon Burned.

Move an Energy from this Pokemon to 1 of your Benched Pokemon.

Volcanion ex may not hit as hard as other ex cards, dealing only 160 damage. But unlike some other exes, it doesn’t suffer from a stun or energy loss after attacking. Instead, you transfer energy to another Pokemon on the bench. It’s a risky move, but if you have another ex Pokemon ready, it’s a great way to power them up.

Volcanion’s ability also gives the opponent the Burned effect, dealing 20 damage each turn. So while it’s busy setting things on fire, you’re stacking up guaranteed damage. It’s a solid way to wear down your opponent, especially in the early game!

5

Iono’s Bellibolt ex

It’s Not Lazy, It’s Recharging!

Iono's Bellibolt ex from Battle Partners in Pokemon TCG.

Ability: Electric Streamer

Thunderous Bolt (230)

As often as you like during your turn, you may attach a Basic Lightning Energy card from your hand to 1 of your Iono’s Pokemon.

During your next turn, this Pokemon can’t attack.

Iono’s Bellibolt ex keeps things simple with just one attack—but oh boy, what an attack! It deals 230 damage, but just like Hop’s Zacian ex, it takes a break next turn. Unlike its attack, Bellibolt’s ability doesn’t directly help itself, but it lets you attach as many Lightning Energy as you want to Iono’s Pokemon.

If Iono’s Kilowattrel is in play, its ability refills your hand to six, making it easier to find those Lightning Energies. Bellibolt doesn’t need extra energy, but Iono’s Voltorb sure does—since it deals damage based on Lightning Energy attached to Iono’s Pokemon, this whole squad thrives on synergy. So, while Bellibolt ex might look like a one-trick frog, it’s actually the spark that keeps Iono’s team electrified!

4

N’s Zoroark ex

Illusions Aren’t Just For Show

N's Zoroark ex from Battle Partners in Pokemon TCG.

Ability: Trade

Night Joker

You must discard a card from your hand in order to use this Ability. Once during your turn, you may draw 2 cards.

Choose 1 of your Benched N’s Pokemon’s attacks and use it as this attack.

N and Zoroark—one of the most iconic and stylish duos! At first glance, N’s Zoroark ex looks like it doesn’t do much damage, but don’t be fooled—its trickster nature shines through. The Trade ability lets you discard a card to draw two, making it a great way to dig for what you need (because drawing cards is always good).

Night Joker, on the other hand, lets you use an attack from any Pokemon with “N’s” in its name. Stealing N’s Reshiram’s Virtuous Flame for 170 damage? Sounds like a solid deal. Or maybe there’s an even better attack waiting for you—Zoroark’s got options!

3

Hop’s Zacian ex

Why Hit One When You Can Hit Two?

Hop's Zacian ex from Battle Partners in Pokemon TCG.

Insta-Strike (30)

Brave Slash (240)

This attack also does 30 damage to 1 of your opponent’s Benched Pokemon. (Don’t apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokemon.)

During your next turn, this Pokemon can’t use Brave Slash.

Hop’s Zacian ex is basic Pokemon that brings anything but basic gameplay! Drop it on the field fast, and your opponent is in for a rough time. Insta-Strike deals 30 damage to both the active and a benched Pokemon—annoying if they’re not ex cards! Brave Slash hits hard at 240 damage but takes a breather before swinging again.

Still, that kind of power is no joke! And if you’ve got Hop’s Snorlax in play, Zacian ex hits even harder with an extra 30 damage. Moral of the story? Hop’s team doesn’t mess around!

2

Salamance ex

A Little Patience, A Lot Of Destruction!

Salamence ex from Battle Partners in Pokemon TCG.

Wide Blast

Dragon Impact (300)

This attack does 50 damage to each of your opponent’s Benched Pokemon. (Don’t apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.)

Discard 2 Energy from this Pokemon.

Salamence ex is an absolute destruction machine—if your goal is pure damage without side effects, this is your go-to card. Being a Stage Two Pokemon means it takes time to set up, but it’s worth the wait. Wide Blast hits all of your opponent’s Benched Pokemon for 50 damage, which can be devastating against weak Basics or already damaged cards.

1

Mamoswine ex

Get Ready To Rumble, Mamoswine’s Here!

Mamoswine ex from Battle Partners in Pokemon TCG

Ability: Mammoth Hauler

Rumbling March (180+)

Once during your turn, you may search your deck for a Pokemon, reveal it, and put it into your hand. Then, shuffle your deck.

This attack does 40 more damage for each Stage 2 Pokemon on your Bench.

Mamoswine is undoubtedly one of the best ex cards in this set, and not just because of its imposing appearance. Its ability, though, is the real winner—it lets you search your deck for a Pokemon each turn. This is a game-changer, helping you find your powerhouse cards or evolutions quickly.

Rumbling March hits for 180 damage, but wait—if you have any Stage Two Pokemon on your bench, it adds 40 extra damage per one! So, if you’ve got a Stage Two Pokemon in play, that’s 220 damage, and it just keeps getting scarier the more Stage Two cards you have. The ability itself is in perfect synergy with its attack, making Mamoswine a true powerhouse!
