Stellaris 4.0 release date confirmed, as Paradox suddenly kicks off Season 9

All of sudden, Paradox has just dropped a flurry of details about the future of Stellaris. Season 9 has officially begun, there are three DLC packs on the way, and the Stellaris 4.0 release date is confirmed. Biological shipsets are coming, as well as new Origins, Civics, structures, and Ascensions. We’re also getting a revamped Shroud system, new events, and there’s a season pass available today. The 4X world might be competitive right now thanks to Civilization 7, Age of Wonders, and Endless Space, but Stellaris is about to get a lot bigger.

Stellaris Season 9 has officially begun, and the first thing you need to know is that if you buy the season pass for the 4X game today, you instantly get the Stargazer Species portrait. More significantly, however, three DLC packs are imminent, beginning with BioGenesis. This includes the biological starships, three new origins, a new megastructure, a new crisis path, and an overhaul to the Genetic Ascension which gives you three distinct paths to choose from: Cloning, Purity, and Mutation.

The Stellaris 4.0 release date is Monday May 5, and coincides with the launch of BioGenesis, the first DLC of Season 9. Two more DLC packs will follow. Shadows of the Shroud arrives in Q3 of 2025, and introduces a retooled Shroud system; the new Shroud panel which lets you track your attunement and unlock new powers; psionic auras;  and more new Origins, ships, government types, and civics.

Finally, in Q4 of 2025, The Infernal Species pack introduces a fresh crisis path, two new Origins, a new, volcanic planetary class, and more new species, ships, and Civics. All of the packs will be available to buy individually, but you can get the Stellaris Season 9 expansion pass which grants you access to all of them (after their respective release dates). The expansion pass is available for $44.99 / £37.99, which is a 20% discount as compared to buying all the packs individually. Just head here.
