For the last few years, Hollow Knight: Silksong has been one of gaming’s biggest white whales. It’s been over six years since the Hollow Knight sequel was announced, and details since that day have been sparse, at best.
While information has been limited, there have been a few rumblings over the last couple of weeks that have suggested we might be close. Xbox listed Silksong as one of its major “upcoming games” for 2025, and one insider suggested it’s planned to hit Xbox Game Pass in June.

For a few hours, Hollow Knight: Silksong wasn’t coming to Nintendo Switch.
Things may have taken even more of a turn now, though, as the game has received two changes on the game’s Steam backend, one of which it hasn’t received since it was announced.
Hollow Knight: Silksong Steam Changes Spark Further Hope That The Game Is Close
The first change to Hollow Knight: Silksong’s Steam profile was that the game has now been opted in for GeforceNow, as spotted on Reddit. Although opting into GeforceNow doesn’t particularly say anything in and of itself, the timing of the update is a little suspect.
It doesn’t stop there, though.
SteamDB, which logs every change a Steam game receives, has shown the game to receive a new copyright date. Previously, it was Copyright Team Cherry 2019, the year the game was announced. Now, it shows Copyright Team Cherry 2025, which, for those unaware, is this year.
Naturally, after feeding on crumbs for the last few years, the Hollow Knight: Silksong community is excited. Threads have been cropping up all over Reddit, including on both the Hollow Knight and Hollow Knight: Silksong subreddits, with fans quick to declare that “it’s happening”. In one thread, DetailFew1846 said, “This is the first copyright update in 6 years, and also they added cloud gaming. This has to mean they’re getting close to launching the game, right??” Theotherjashlash added, “Guys I think there’s something changing in me… I’m… I’m beginning to believe.”
With a big Nintendo Direct just around the corner, and summer’s big gaming announcement season just a couple of months away, Hollow Knight: Silksong definitely feels closer than it ever has done.
