Battlestate Games hosted a limited-time event in the tactical FPS Escape from Tarkov recently, but a recurring issue has stopped PvE players from participating and the community is making its voice heard on the matter. The Killa boss event was announced on Escape from Tarkov’s Twitter page, setting the boss’ spawn rate to 100% for a limited time, and the event took place on March 23. However, several players missed out and were surprised the random event was active on a Sunday as well.
Escape from Tarkov was first released in 2017 and is set in a fictional region in Russia titled Norvinsk. The gameplay revolves around a war between two military companies, the United Security (USEC) and the Battle Encounter Assault Regiment (BEAR), and players take part in raids to fight each other and bots for loot. Escape from Tarkov recently deployed a new update for February 2025, which introduced AI behavior changes and bug fixes to dial up the game’s realism. While the update improved game performance, refined illumination rendering, and solved several issues hindering gameplay, the PvE portion of players are still frustrated by the developer’s limited-time event restrictions.

While the recent Killa event was taking place, a wipe would explain why the PvE players missed out, which is a game-wide reset that erases players’ progress, items, and skills that occurs every five to six months. There are plenty of tips for Escape from Tarkov players to prepare for a server wipe, and while this hasn’t been noted as an official cause, it would explain PvE players’ frustration.
Escape from Tarkov PvE Players Miss Out on Limited-Time Event
Battlestate offered Escape from Tarkov players the chance to bag a free gift bundle recently, but PvE players are keen to see the limited-time event issue solved before indulging in freebies. The game’s social media post announcing the event was inundated with comments asking why the event was not made available for PvE players, and one post noted the game’s designer, Nikita Buyanov, had previously said that 50% of the player base is usually on PvE during a wipe. Therefore, many were asking why there weren’t PvE events. Other players asked for these limited-time events to last longer, as the most recent one only took place for seven hours.
Aside from the current event faux pas hindering PvE players, Escape from Tarkov remains one of the best titles with PvPvE gameplay, joining the likes of Hunt: Showdown 1896, World of Warcraft Classic, and Ark: Survival Evolved. The FPS’ community hopes Battlestate addresses the issue and implements changes since it’s now becoming a repeat problem, ensuring everyone is involved with spontaneous limited-time events going forward.
