Atomfall‘s unique Leads approach to story progression means that players will have multiple entry points into a story, as well as a number of different outcomes, depending on the choices you make. This applies not just to main story quests, but the side content you discover along the way.
One such optional questline you will discover in the game surrounds the owner of the bakery in Wyndham Village. Through this story, players will need to decide how to complete The Bakery Lead in Atomfall to get the most favorable outcome for your playthrough preferences.

How To Start The Bakery in Atomfall
As is the case with most Leads in Atomfall, there are multiple entry points for players that will trigger the beginning of The Bakery questline. To initiate this story, players can discover it by doing any of the following:
- Talk to Captain Sims in the Village Hall (33.4E, 79.3N) in Wyndham Village, and offer to help Protocol. This will lead to him asking you to investigate some suspicions he has about Iris the baker.
- Talk to Iris in the bakery in Wyndham Village (33.4E, 80.2N), and take either a sympathetic or threatening approach to get information on her husband’s condition.
- Find the note in Wyndham Garage (35.5E, 79.2N), which has a key to the bakery bedroom next to it.
All Outcomes for The Bakery in Atomfall
Depending on the decisions you make and who you speak to, there are a number of different outcomes you can encounter for The Bakery. Primarily, it comes down to these three conclusions:
- Your suspicions are reported to Sims. If you go back to the bakery and go upstairs to the bedroom, you’ll find both Iris and her husband have been shot dead.
- You use the key from Wyndham Garage to go into the bedroom. Phillip becomes hostile, and you will likely need to kill him or escape. If you kill him, Iris becomes hostile.
- You get the Strange Tonic from Mother Jago, which Iris gives to her husband. If you return later, you find out that he has escaped.
Regardless of which option you choose, the rewards will more or less be the same. The one item from this questline that you’ll really want to get your hands on is the skill book, which you can acquire regardless of the outcome.
How To Get Strange Tonic for Iris in Atomfall
Should players opt for the passive route and wish to help Iris, they will need to venture to Casterfell Woods and meet with one of Atomfall‘s more significant characters, Mother Jago. She is a potential ally for your character, should you choose to try to escape the quarantine zone with her. To find Mother Jago, players will need to go to The Old Mine in Casterfell Woods in the north-eastern corner of the region (27.2E, 92.2N).
Once you find Mother Jago, she will inform you that the recipe for the Strange Tonic is with the Druids in their castle stronghold, and will also request that you retrieve a herbology book of hers that they also have held there. You don’t need the book to help Iris, but you will need the recipe in order to craft the elixir.
Getting to the Druid’s castle will require quite a bit of travel, as it is on the opposite end of Casterfell Woods, and you will encounter a fairly significant volume of enemies, depending on the difficulty level you have picked. The castle has two entrances, the main one at 19.6E, 83.7N, and the side entrance at 20.6E, 83.7N. It is recommended that you take the side entrance, as you will require a specific key to get to the Strange Tonic recipe from there. Additionally, there is also an Atomic Battery in the High Priestess’ possession via the side entrance, which you will need for later in the game.
How To Find the Strange Tonic Recipe
Once players have reached the side entrance to the castle, they’ll need to overcome a lot more hostile NPCs within. They won’t hesitate to attack, as you will be trespassing by the time you are through the door. Once inside, simply follow these steps:
- As you approach the fork in the road where the Druid is and the BARD crate to the right, go straight.
- Loot the BARD crate on the left, then head down the stairs and take down the High Priestess (make sure to grab the Atomic Battery)
- Follow the path down the stairs, taking out enemies along the way.
- Cross the bridge next to the blue glow, then turn left up the stairs, then cross the bridge to the right (be wary of the bat swarm following you)
- Follow the path and take a left, unless you want to kill all enemies nearby first, in which case clear them on the right then continue on the left.
- Continue up the path until it winds to the right, then go up the ladder.
- Go straight down the stairs and up the next set right ahead, then take out the enemies.
- Go through to the room on the opposite end of the clearing, and look to the right to find the Strange Tonic Recipe.
Once players have the Strange Tonic recipe, they can learn it by simply opening their inventory and selecting the Consume option. This will give you the recipe to the item, which is as follows:
- Four Spores
- One Chemical
- Three Glass
- Five Herbs
With this recipe, you can craft a Strange Tonic, which you will need to bring to Iris to complete the passive outcome to the mission.
Should You Help Iris or Report Her to Captain Sims?
Essentially, there are no significant consequences for players, regardless of which outcome they choose, so it primarily comes down to what you can gain from certain actions. If you are looking to earn favor from Captain Sims or get access to Skethermoor without Protocol hostility, then report Iris to Sims. If you are going to pursue the Mother Jago ending, it is better to seek out the Strange Tonic. There is no direct correlation here, but getting the Strange Tonic recipe follows the same questline as helping Jago anyway.
Regardess of the outcome you choose, the reward will remain the same. Players will be able to acquire the Consumables Skill Book upon completion, which will be found on the table in the bakery bedroom, or in Iris’ inventory if she has died. This skill book will make the Blue Fingers, Buff Duration. and Gut Health abilities available for purchase. The Blue Fingers ability, in particular, is really useful, as it allows for players to harvest spores, a key ingredient in Strange Tonic, from glowing blue plants.
