Summary

  • Bloodborne ranks in the top 70 of all PS4 games for dollar sales in the US, making it one of the system’s most successful games.
  • More impressively, Bloodborne is tenth in dollar sales in the US when it comes to Sony-published titles, if you exclude Destiny and Destiny 2
  • That makes Bloodborne one of Sony’s most successful games ever, which really does make you question where that dang remaster is.

It’s Bloodborne’s 10th anniversary at the time of writing, and while we have unsurprisingly been given nothing from PlayStation or Sony, many have been taking the time to revisit Yharnam once more to celebrate. It also has many looking back at Bloodborne’s impact on FromSoftware and PlayStation as a whole, and pondering once again why a remaster hasn’t been announced yet.

Whatever PlayStation’s reasoning, it certainly can’t be based on sales. Earlier today, Circana’s Mat Piscatella – who regularly provides updates on the sales of new games – was asked for an update on Bloodborne’s performance for the anniversary. It’s here that Piscatella revealed just how successful Bloodborne is for PlayStation.

Piscatella reveals that Bloodborne is actually in the top 70 of all PS4 games when it comes to full dollar sales in the US, which is absolutely staggering considering there are well over 10,000 PS4 games out there and counting. Even more impressively, Piscatella says that Bloodborne is sitting in twelfth for full dollar sales of Sony-published games in the US (tenth if you exclude Destiny and Destiny 2, which weren’t published by Sony at the time of release).

Ten Years On, Bloodborne Is Still The Best Game FromSoftware Has Ever Made

Yep, Bloodborne is better than Elden Ring.

It’s difficult to imagine that record not carrying over to other territories, so it essentially makes Bloodborne one of the most successful games that Sony has ever published. If you’ve ever thought that the sales of Bloodborne were the only thing stopping us from getting that elusive remaster/remake, that pretty much shuts down the argument entirely.

So that makes Bloodborne both critically and commercially successful, something that Days Gone wasn’t, yet the latter has somehow been remastered since. At this point, we have no idea as to why Sony isn’t just giving everyone what they want, whether it be the lack of FromSoftware’s help, or just the game being held hostage until PlayStation really needs something to bail it out of hot water.

Either way, it’s an interesting little factoid that has been revealed for the game’s tenth anniversary. Let’s just keep our fingers crossed that we’re not waiting another ten years before we get something from PlayStation.
