Despite the weight of the world on its shoulders, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is a great entry in the series with one of its best worlds to date.

According to Henderson’s sources, Shadows, with its 2.2 million player count, is just behind Assassin’s Creed Valhalla‘s day one player count of 2.55 million. It is firmly ahead of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey‘s count of 430,000.

On its current trajectory, Henderson notes that Shadows should cross 6,000,000 players within its first month. For reference, Valhalla did 8,000,000 and Odyssey, despite its slow start, crossed 3.4 million.

It’s especially noteworthy considering that, historically, Assassin’s Creed titles have come out during the holidays, while Shadows is a spring release. Either way, the numbers point to Shadows being Ubisoft’s second-biggest launch to date.

The Shadows Numbers Have Been Strong

If those numbers weren’t telling enough, Shadows has also become the franchise’s highest-played game by concurrent players on Steam. After quickly leaving the likes of Origins, Unity and Black Flag in the dust, Shadows managed to cross Odyssey’s numbers to reach the top spot.

It, of course, also managed to cross the aforementioned 2,000,000-player threshold after handily moving past 1,000,000 players within hours of launching. In response, Ubisoft thanked its fans for the support it received. “The sheer amount of love and positivity we’ve received has been incredibly heartwarming,” a post on Reddit read.
