Ale & Tale Tavern has several cooking recipes that players can unlock by leveling up, but some recipes exist out in the world for players to find. These recipes aren’t easy to find since Ale & Tale Tavern has no mini-map for players to navigate around the world. Now, while Ale & Tale Tavern doesn’t have the biggest open-world map out there, finding the recipes can still be a challenge.

8 Hidden Secrets Many Still Haven’t Found In Red Dead Redemption 2
Despite being over 6 years old, there are still many secrets within Red Dead Redemption 2 that most players haven’t found yet.
The first recipe scroll in Ale & Tale Tavern unlocks the Crab Salad recipe. Just like the hidden waterfall cave in Avowed, players will need to find it and look behind it to claim their prize. To get there, players should start at the tavern and turn to the right, with the tavern along the player’s right side. Facing the forest, players should head in that direction in a straight line as much as possible.
From the tavern, head into the woods and keep running straight. Eventually, players should come to a small dirt path cutting through the woods. Depending on where players have come across the path, they should take it to the right.
The path will eventually lead down to the lake’s edge. Head to the lake’s coast, then turn left with the lake on the player’s right side. Walk along the coast until a green mist surrounding some logs appears. If the player has already helped out the mermaid, the logs and mist will no longer be there.
Continue following the coast until players reach a large stone bridge that leads to the other side of the water. Cross the bridge and take the dirt path on the other side all the way to another lake and another coastline.
At this point, the waterfall is just around the corner. Players should hug the coast of the water once more, with the lake on the player’s right-hand side. Follow the water’s edge around the rocky cliff until a waterfall appears.
Like any good adventuring game with hidden locations, one of the secret cooking recipes in Ale & Tale Tavern is hiding behind the waterfall. Walk through it to claim the scroll and unlock the Crab Salad recipe.
While getting to the waterfall scroll recipe might have been challenging, the graveyard scroll recipe in Ale & Tale Tavern is much easier to find. At least, it’s easy if players start from the waterfall. In fact, eagle-eye players can actually see the next location from the waterfall.
With the waterfall behind the player, look out onto the horizon. In the far distance, on top of a tall hill, there’s a large tree. That marks the spot of the graveyard scroll recipe.
To get there, players should start with the waterfall behind them. Follow the water’s edge, this time with the water on the player’s left, until a river cuts through the beach. Cross the river and move along the water’s edge, with the water on the player’s left side.
Eventually, the player will come to a dock. The large tree on the hill is just ahead. To get to the top of the hill, players must circle to the right of the hill’s base. Keep going around until there’s a dirt road leading up the hill.
The dirt path eventually ends, but players must climb the hill until they reach the top. At the base of the large tree atop the hill is a trio of gravestones. Now, this graveyard isn’t quite as exciting as the hidden graveyard secrets in Baldur’s Gate 3, but they are pretty to admire. Players will need to go to the bench that’s also up on the hill. The graveyard scroll recipe is on the bench. Claiming the scroll will unlock the Potato and Mushroom recipe.
Now, getting to the swamp scroll recipe in Ale & Tale Tavern is a bit more challenging. The best place to start is with the tree from the graveyard at your back with the lake on your left. Head down the coast until the forest turns into a swamp.
Players may pass by an orc camp along the way, so stay wary or be ready to take them on.
Players will know they’re in the swamp by the region’s cattails, low-lying water, toads, and fog. Don’t enter the swamp entirely, however. Instead, keep the swamp’s edge to the player’s left and follow it inland.
This path takes a while, but one of the best landmarks to look out for is a large boulder with another rock sticking out of it like an arrow. In fact, the rock even has a strange symbol etched into it. Keep moving past it, with the swamp water’s edge on the left.
Now, the thing players will want to keep an eye out for is a series of wooden bridges that lead into the swamp. From this point, it’s a straight shot to the swamp scroll recipe. Follow the wooden bridges and make for the three large stones jutting out of the earth.
Between all three of the large stones is a pedestal, with the scroll sitting on top of it. Claiming the scroll will unlock the Mushroom Soup recipe in Ale & Tale Tavern. With the final scroll claimed, players successfully found all three hidden scroll recipes scattered around the world in Ale & Tale Tavern.
